18、ure. Solvent cement that conforms to ASTM D2235 or CSA CAN/CSA-B I8 I. 1 listed in Chapter 8 shall be applied to all joint surfaces. The joint shall be made while the cement is wet. Joints shall be made in accordance with ASTM D2235, D266 1, F628 or CSA CAN/CSA-B 18 1.1 listed in Chapter 8. Solvent

19、cement joints shall be permitted above or below ground. PR-203.7 Copper joints: Joints between copper or copper alloy tubing or fittings shall be in accordance with Sections PR- PR-203.7.1 Brazed joints: All joint surfaces shall be cleaned. An approved flux shall be applied when required. The joint

20、shall be brazed with a filler metal conforming to AWS A5.8 listed in Chapter 8. PR-203.7.2 Flared joints: Flared joints for water pipe shall be made by the use of a tool designed for that operation. PR-203.7.3 Mechanical joints: Mechanical joints shall be installed in accordance with the manufacture

21、rs instructions. 203.7.1 through PR-203.7.4. PR-203.7.4 Soldered joints: All joint surfaces shall be cleaned. A flux conforming to ASTM B8 13 listed in Chapter 8 shall be applied. The joint shall be soldered with a solder conforming to ASTM B32 listed in Chapter 8. The joining of water supply piping

22、 shall be made with lead-free solders and fluxes. Lead free shall mean a chemical composition equal to or less than 0.2 percent lead. PR-203.8 CPVC plastic joints: Joints between CPVC plastic pipe or fittings shall be in accordance with Sections PR-203.8.1 and PR-203.8.2. PR-203.8.1 Mechanical joint

23、s: Mechanical joints shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. PR-203.8.2 Solvent cementing: Joint surfaces shall be clean and free of moisture, and an approved primer shall be applied. Solvent cement, orange in color and conforming to ASTM F493 listed in Chapter 8, shall

24、 be applied to all joint surfaces. The joint shall be made while the cement is wet, and in accordance with ASTM D2846 or ASTM F493 listed in Chapter 8. Solvent cement joints shall be permitted above or below ground. PR-203.9 Galvanized steel joints: Joints between galvanized steel pipe or fittings s

25、hall be threaded joints. Threads shall conform to ASME B 1.20.1 listed in Chapter 8. Pipe joint com- pound or tape shall be used on the male threads only. PR-203.10 Polybutylene plastic joints: Joints between polybutylene plastic pipe and tubing or fittings shall be in accordance with Sections PR-20

26、3.10.1 through PR-203.10.3. PR-203.10.1 Flared joints: Flared pipe ends shall be made by use of a tool designed for that operation. PR-203.10.2 Heat fusion joints: Joints shall be of the sock- et-fusion or butt-fusion type. Joint surfaces shall be clean and free of moisture. All joint surfaces shall

27、 be heated to melt temperature and joined. The joint shall be undisturbed until cool. Joints shall be made in accordance with ASTM D2657, ASTM D3309 or CSA CAN3-B137.8 listed in Chapter 8. PR-203.10.3 Mechanical joints: Mechanical joints shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers instru

28、ctions. Metallic lock rings employed with insert fittings as described in ASTM D3309 or CSA CAN3-B 137.8 listed in Chapter 8 shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers in- structions. PR-203.11 Polyethylene plastic joints: Joints between polyethylene plastic pipe and tubing or fittings

29、shall be in ac- cordance with Sections PR-203.11.1 through PR-203.11.4. PR-203.11.1 Flared joints: Flared joints shall be permitted where recommended by the pipe manufacturer. Flared joints shall be made by use of a tool designed for that operation. PR-203.11.2 Heat fusion joints: Joint surfaces sha

30、ll be clean and free of moisture. All joint surfaces shall be heated to melt temperature and joined. The joint shall be undisturbed until cool. Joints shall be made in accordance with ASTM D2657 listed in Chapter 8. PR-203.11.3 Mechanical joints: Mechanical joints shall be installed in accordance wi

32、llation: Polyethylene pipe shall be cut square, using a cutter designed for plastic pipe. Except where joined by heat fusion, pipe ends shall be chamfered to remove sharp edges. Kinked pipe shall not be used. The minimum pipe bending radius shall not be less than 30 pipe diameters, or the minimum co

33、il radius, whichever is greater. Piping shall not be bent beyond straightening of the curvature of the coil. Bends shall not be permitted within i0 pipe diameters of any fitting or valve. Stiffener inserts used with compression-type couplings and fittings shall not extend beyond the clamp or nut of

34、the coupling or fitting. PR-203.12 PVC plastic joints: Joints between PVC plastic pipe or fittings shall be in accordance with Sections PR-203.12.1 and PR-203.12.2. PR-203.12.1 Mechanical joints: Mechanical joints on water pipe shall be made with an elastomeric seal conforming to ASTM D3139 listed i

35、n Chapter 8. Mechanical joints shall only be installed in underground systems, unless otherwise approved. Joints shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. PR-203.1 2.2 Solvent cementing: Joint surfaces shall be clean and free of moisture. A purple primer that conforms to

36、ASTM F656 listed in Chapter 8 shall be applied. Solvent cement not purple in color and conforming to ASTM D2564, CSA CAN/CSA-B 137.3, CSA CAN/CSA-B 18 1.2 or CSA CAN/CSA-B 182.1 listed in Chapter 8 shall be applied to all joint surfaces. The joint shall be made while the cement is wet, and in accord

37、ance with ASTM D2855 listed in Chapter 8. Solvent cement joints shall be permitted above or below ground. PR-203.13 Dissimilar material joints: Joints between different piping materials shall be made with a mechanical joint of the compression or mechanical-sealing type, or as permitted in Sections P

38、R-203.13.1 and PR-203.13.2. Joints shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers instmctions. PR-203.13.1 Copper or copper alloy tubing to galvanized steel pipe: Joints between copper or copper alloy tubing and galvanized steel pipe shall be made by the use of a brass converter fitting or

39、dielectric fitting. The copper tubing shall be soldered to the fitting in an approved manner, and the fitting shall be screwed to the threaded pipe. PR-203.13.2 Plastic pipe or tubing to other piping material: Joints between different grades of plastic pipe or between plastic pipe and other piping m

40、aterial shall be made by the use of an approved adapter fitting. PR-203.14 Penetrations of floor/ceiling assemblies and fireresistance rated assemblies: Penetrations of floor/ceiling assemblies and assemblies required to have a fireresistance rating shall be protected in accordance with the building

41、 code listed in Chapter 8. PR-203.15 Exterior openings: Openings through the roof shall be made water-tight by use of an approved flashing. Openings through exterior walls shall be made water-tight. SECTION PR-204.0 DRAIN, WASTE AND VENT SYSTEMS PR-204.1 Above ground sanitary drainage and vent pipe:
