This European Standard shall be

EN 14956:2005 (E) 4 1 Scope This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the water content of unbound mineral surfaces used for outdoor sports areas. 2 Principle The mass of a specimen of an unbound mineral is determined under the pr
18、evailing conditions. After drying, the mass of the same specimen is determined again. The difference in mass is a measure of the water content. 3 Apparatus 3.1 Conventional oven, capable of being set at (105 5) C. 3.2 Balance, capable of measuring to within 0,1 g. 3.3 Desiccator. 4 Test specimen Pre
19、pare a specimen having a mass of at least 1 000 g. 5 Test conditions The test shall be carried out at a temperature of (23 2) C and a relative humidity of (50 10) %. 6 Procedure 6.1 Determine the mass of the test specimen (MA). 6.2 Dry the specimen for at least 24 h in the oven (3.1) at (105 5) C. R
20、emove the specimen from the oven and allow the specimen to cool down in the desiccator (3.3) for at least 4 h. Re-weigh the specimen (MB). 6.3 Place the specimen in the oven for at least 4 h. After a second cooling down period in the desiccator for at least 4 h, weigh the specimen again (MC). 6.4 Re
21、peat 6.3 until two successive masses are within 0,05 g. Record this mass, MD, as the mass of the dry specimen. EN 14956:2005 (E) 5 7 Expression of results Calculate the water content of the specimen, expressed as a percentage, using the following formula: 100 DDAMMMwhere MAis the mass of the specime
22、n, expressed in grams; MDis the mass of the dry specimen, expressed in grams. 8 Test report The test report shall include the following information: a) reference to this European Standard, i.e. EN 14956:2005; b) description of the nature of the specimen (MA, MB, MC, MD); c) water content of the spec
23、imen, expressed as a percentage by mass to the nearest whole number.
