、ument84(CO)134, as prepared by IEC Technical Committee No.84: Equipment and systems in the field of audio, video and audiovisual engineering, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote in September1991. The reference document was approved by CENELEC as EN60933-3 on16 June1992. The following date

、s were fixed: For products which have compiled with the relevant national standard before1993-08-01, as shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previous standard may continue to apply for production until1988-08-01. latest date of publication ofan identical national standard (dop)

、1993-08-01 latest date of withdrawal ofconflicting national standards (dow)1993-08-01EN60933-3:1992 BSI 11-1999 3 1 Scope This part of IEC933 defines an interface which is designed to enable the Electronic News Gathering (ENG) signals produced in a non-composite form to be sent through a parallel li

、nk between a camera and a portable Video Tape Recorder (VTR) which are separated by about5m to10m instead of being combined in a camera-recorder. This part of IEC933 includes the electrical characteristics that the interface will have to satisfy in order to transmit the programme signals produced by

、 the camera (audio and video components) and those fed back to the viewfinder (video, playback), as well as the operational controls and the monitoring indications. This specification includes only those characteristics considered to be essential to facilitate the interconnection of equipment produc

、ed by different manufacturers. In order to prevent damage due to incorrect connections, it is necessary to make sure that the equipment concerned complies with this specification, and, furthermore, that the additional connections provided by the manufacturers in the case of particular systems are no

、t incompatible with this specification. One system has been recommended by the EBU for the recording of non-composite ENG signals (RecommendationR32). The detailed specification of the interface for this system is reproduced in Annex A and the correspondence between the contacts in that case and the

、 signals taken into account by the EBU is indicated. Signals not specified in this standard (e.g.other audio inputs to the VTR or reference video signals for locking the sync. pulse generator of the camera) should be connected by means of special sockets on the camera or VTR. They are not covered by

、 this specification, and neither is the composite video interface that may be found on equipment of this type. The merit of this interface does not depend on the use of one particular type of connector. It is sufficient for compatibility that the electrical matching values given in clause3 are obser

、ved. Manufacturers should provide full details of the connectors used on their equipment and the contact assignments. Attention is drawn to EBU Technical StandardN10 which specifies an interface of four BNC connectors, with the female part mounted on VTRs and other equipment. Nevertheless, it is rec

、ommended that in new designs, the26-contact connector and contact assignments described in Annex A be used. Each connector on equipment should be fitted only with the contacts which are actually used so that inadvertent connection of signals not provided for in the equipment is prevented. Cord sets

、should connect all contacts. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of International Standard IEC933. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All normative documents

、are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this part of International Standard IEC933 are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. EN60933-3:1992 4 BSI 11-1999 3 Electrical characteristics of the interface 3.1 Programme signals In practice, component video signals are generally designated by the lettersY,R-Y andB-Y, but in the following, the notation adopted by the CCIR has been used: E y , E CRand E C

、B . Luminance signal (camera to VTR) The luminance signal is the same as that defined in CCIR Report624-4. In accordance with TableII of that report, it is obtained from the primary signals by means of the equation: E y=0,299E R +0,587E G +0,114E B where E R , E Gand E Bare the primary signals after

、 gamma precorrection. In the present application, the amplitude range of the primary signals is0,700V. The luminance signal should include synchronizing pulses and line and field blanking in accordance with CCIR Report624-4 (TableI, TableI.1 and TableI.2). The amplitude of this signal should comply

、with the following specifications: peak-to-peak amplitude (including sync.):1V; nominal value of the d.c. component:0V at blanking level, or a.c. coupled output; input and output impedance: Z o=Z i=757. Colour difference signals (camera to VTR) The colour-difference signals are obtained from the E y

、signal and the primary signals specified above. When the amplitude range of the primary signals is0,7V, the colour-difference signals comply with the following equations, which are the same as those given in the CCIR Report629-4: E CR=0,713(E R E y ); E CB=0,564(E B E y ). Both of these signals shou

、ld include line and field blanking in accordance with CCIR Report624-4 (TableI,TableI.1 and TableI.2). Neither signal should include synchronizing pulses. The amplitude of the E CRand E CBsignals should comply with the following specifications: peak-to-peak amplitude:0,700V for100/0/100/0 colour bar

、s; 0,525V for100/0/75/0 colour bars; nominal value of the d.c. component:0V at blanking level, or a.c. coupled output; input and output impedance of the interface: Z o=Z i=757. All three signals E y , E CRand E CBshould be simultaneous in real-time and convey time-coincident information. Their chara

、cteristics are illustrated in Figure 1, page5. The specification does not include any band-limitation for the luminance or colour-difference signals. If necessary, in order to ensure that the equipment operates correctly, such limitation should be applied at the input stages of the equipment. The in

、sertion of signals during the field blanking period is reserved. The use of lines12/325 in the E CRandE CBsignals to identify the colour fields in the case of preliminary composite processing is, however, under study. The use of other lines in all three signals to carry an amplitude and phase refere

、nce is also under study. Playback video signal (VTR to camera) The specifications applicable to this signal are as follows: peak-to-peak amplitude (including sync.): 1 V; nominal value of the d.c. component: 0V at blanking level, or a.c. coupled output; input and output impedance: Z o=Z i=757.EN6093

、3-3:1992 BSI 11-1999 5 A manual switch may be provided on the camera to route this signal to the viewfinder, but it is also possible to provide an automatic switch, the control of which is transmitted through the interface from the VTR. Such a system does not form part of this specification. However

、, if both automatic and manual switches are provided, the latter should be able to force the viewfinder to show the camera picture, whatever control signal is received from the VTR. Audio signal (camera to VTR) The signal produced by the microphone should comply with the following specification: lev

、elU60dBu, balanced; Z o=2007, Z i=3k7 to10k7. Figure 1 Waveform of video signals for100/0/100/0 colour barsEN60933-3:1992 6 BSI 11-1999 3.2 Power supply (VTR to camera) Voltage (at the output of the VTR):12V nominal (minimum:10,6V, maximum:17V). The camera should be able to operate with the power su

、pply provided by the VTR, taking account of the voltage reduction due to the supply cable. However, in order to make allowance for the case of cameras having their own battery, arrangements should be made in the camera to automatically prevent the interconnection of the battery in it with that in th

、e VTR. 3.3 VTR start/stop control The start/stop control for the VTR should comply with the following specifications: start:5V nominal(4V to8V, CMOS); stop:0V nominal(0 to0,5V, CMOS). 3.4 Indication of recording/VTR fault (TALLY) The appearance of this signal is shown in Figure 2, page6. The specifi

、cations of this signal are as follows, with an input impedance of Z i=20k7: The signal indicates at the camera whether the VTR is recording or not and also provides information on its operating state. The interface does not make provisions for particular warnings (e.g.battery discharged). All the warnings generated by the system concerned are transmitted by the same signal. Various individual alarms can also be provided at the camera, but they are not covered by this specification.
