Amendments This standard differs from DIN EN 12697-21:2004-02 as follows: a) the test cubes have been replaced by test plates and the height of cylindrical specimens has been defined; b) a more detailed des
6、cription of the load application system and suitable devices has been given; c) the term “pneumatic thrustor” (in German “Druckvorrichtung fr Luftdruck”) has been replaced by “pneumatic actuator” (in German “Druckluftzylinder”); d) it has been clarified that the water bath only has to be capable of
7、maintaining the temperature in the vicinity of the specimen; e) when preparing specimens the temperature of mastic asphalt with modified binders and/or of low temperature mastic asphalt is to be in accordance with the producers instructions; f) requirements for the storage of specimens prior to the

42、iven temperature, load and for a fixed time period by a standardised cylindrical indentor pin with a circular flat-ended base. The load is applied differently
46、 according to the type of apparatus used. The following load application systems are suitable: 3.2.1.2 Lever arm and counterweight: After balancing of lever arm, with help of a balance weight, place a weight into a mark situated on the arm, at such a distance, that the chosen load is applied on the
47、pin. 3.2.1.3 Direct charge system: Comprising a plate, fixed to a vertical axis. 3.2.1.4 Transmission by pneumatic actuator: Pressure of compressed air permits the desired force to be obtained. This pressure is preliminarily adjusted by means of a pressure gauge and released at the moment of the test.
