2、C for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers one type of plotting instrument set consisting of a storage case, a compass, a divider, a screwdriver, two additional leads, a complete additional set of needle points, one of each type and size of fastener used to s
3、ecure the leads and needle points, and a vial for containing the additional leads, needles and fasteners. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 ComDonents. The set shall contain a case, compass, a divider, a screwdriver, two additional leads, a complete additional set of needle points. one of each type and
4、 size of fastener used to secure the leads and needle points, and a vial for containing the additional leads, needles and fasteners. 2. i. i Comnass. The compass shall be corrosion-resistant. The compass length shall be a minimum of 5- 112 inches and a maximum of 6- 112 inches, measured from center
5、of pivot end of legs. exclusive of lead or needle point. The needle point shall be held by a corrosion-resistant device that allows the point to pivot on the leg. The needle shall be reversible and replaceable in its carrier. Points shall have an ordinary needle point on one end and a short point wi
6、th a shoulder on the opposite end to limit the entering depth of the point. The pencil lead shaii be held in place by a corrosion-resistant device affned to the leg. With lead and needle points extended one- quarter inch from the ends of their legs, the compass will close the points to within one-th
7、irty- second of an inch of each other. A corrosion-resistant, straightening device shall be fitted to keep the head centered and up with reference to the legs (bisecting the angle of the legs) of the instrument and provide equal and simultaneous movement of each lead during adjustment. 10、iform, and continuous movement. Head construction shall be such that a locking device is not required. 2.1.2 Divider. The divider shail be identical to the compass (see 2.2.1), except that both legs shall be fitted to take reversible and replaceable steel needle points which shall be firmly held in
11、place by fasteners. 2.1.3 Needle Doints. screw studs. and insert lups. Needle points and holding device shall be made of corrosion-resistant steel. 2.1.4 Lead and needle point holder. The extra lead, needle points and fasteners shall be stored in a corrosion-resistant holder with a removable top. 2.
12、2 Instrument and case markings. 2.2.1 Instruments. Each compass and divider shall be marked in a plain and permanent manner with manufacturers name or identifiing trademark. 2.2.2 W. The case shall not exceed 8 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 1 inch high. The case shall have a permanently attached c
13、over to protect the instruments and accessories and shall provide a means of securing them inside the case. The case shall be lined with a non-abrasive cushioning material and the case fasteners shall be corrosion-resistant. The top flap or lid of the case shall have the following notation embossed

U.S. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Recovered materials. The offerorkontractor is encouraged to use recove
15、red materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The product provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description; conform to the p
16、roducers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices; and be the same product as that which the supplier offers for sale on the commercial market.
