19、sporting perishable goods. 1 Scope This European Standard specifies the dimensions and basic requirements for thermal swap bodies of class C. These swap bodies are suitable for international exchange and for conveyance by road and rail including interchange between these forms of transport. NOTE “Cl

28、 Figure 1 and in Table 1. No part of the swap body shall project beyond these specified overall external dimensions. The profile of swap bodies shall comply with detail X. At the present state of road vehicle regulation in certain countries, the transport of two swap bodies of this size together on a road train is only feasible by using a close-coupled trailer. 5 Re
34、quirements 5.1 General requirements 5.1.1 The thennal characteristics of the isothermal body (global thermal transmission coefficient K), and the performances of the thermal device shall meet the class C requirements of the ATP” agreement, the purpose of which is to facilitate international transpor
35、tation of perishable goods between the national signatory parties. NOTE The denomination “class C” according to the present standard is independent of the AT$ classification index for transportation vehicles. 5.1.2 The strength requirements for swap bodies are given in EN 283: 1991. The swap bodies
36、as complete units shall be capable of withstanding the loads and loadings specified in EN 283: 199 1. 5.1.3 The refiigeration or heating equipment need not necessarily be in place when the swap body is tested. But if any of the main parts or frameworks of the refrigeration or heating equipment is no
37、t in position for any structural test, the ability of that part or framework to withstand the appropriate proportion of any relevant cargo loading andor the forces or accelerations to which the swap body and equipment may be subjected in the service for which it was designed shall be established ind
38、ependently. If parts of the refigeration or heating equipment which contribute to the strength or integrity of the swap body in service are not in position for structural testing, substitute framework and/or panelling may be employed during such testing provided that such substitute components are s
39、ecured in the same manner as the equipment itself and do not provide greater strength than the equipment would have provided (see IS0 1496-2:1988,6.11). 2) ATP Agreement for the intemational carriage of perishable foodstuffs and on the special equipment to be used for such carriage. 0 BSI 10-1999 Pa
40、ge 9 EN 12406:1999 5.2 Devices for hanging cargo 5.2.1 If the roof of a swap body is intended to carry a hanging cargo, the given requirements in 5.2.2 to 5.2.5 shall apply, in addition to 5.1. 5.2.2 One of the following tests (5.23 or 5.2.4) shall be carried out to prove the ability of the roof str
41、ucture of the swap body to withstand longitudinal restraint under dynamic conditions which imply accelerations or decelerations of 2gn measured at the bottom fittings. 5.2.3 The swap body shall be uniformly loaded to 1R. The load shall be attached to the roof in a manner simulating normal service lo
42、adings, while the swap body is positioned centrally on a rail wagon. The wagon is then accelerated so that at the moment of impact against a stationary wagon of 80 t, a deceleration of 2g, is measured on the bottom fittings of the swap body, measurements being taken using accelerometers with the res
43、ulting signals filtered through a 16 Hz filter. This test shall be camed out in both directions with the swap body secured by the bottom fittings leading in the direction of travel in each case. 5.2.4 Alternatively, the static test as shown in Figure 4 shall be applied. The swap body in tare conditi
44、on shall be secured through the bottom apertures of the bottom fittings. Forces of 26 kN shall be applied simultaneously to each of the top comers on the rear end of the swap body in lines parallel both to the base and the side walk of the swap body. The forces shall be applied towards the swap body
45、 (horizontal push) using the test stamp specified in Figure 4, detail X. In a second step, the same test shall be applied to the front end of the swap body without the reefer unit or heating mounted onto the swap body. Each end wall shall be tested for 5 min. 5.2.5 On completion of the test, the swa
46、p body shall show neither permanent deformation which will render it unsuitable for use nor abnonnaiity which will render it unsuitable for use, and the diagonal differences must not be more than 13 mm as specified in Table 1. 5.3 Strength of refrigeration or heating unit attachment This test shall
47、be carried out to prove the ability of the swap body end fiame to support loading due to the installed mass of the removable refrigeration or heating unit under dynamic conditions of 2gn acceleration or deceleration. The swap body in tare condition shall be secured through the bottom apertures of th
48、e bottom fittings. A test fiame shall be used for this test as shown in Figure 5 and shall be mounted onto the swap body in place of the refrigeration or heating unit. All bolts intended by the manufacturer of the swap body for the attachment of the refrigeration or heating unit shall be used for th
49、e attachment of the test frame. A force equal to the mass of the refrigeration or heating unit X 2gn shall be applied away from the refrigeration or heating unit attachment (horizontal pull). The minimum test force shall be 12 kN.
