、BRITISH STANDARD BS EN 1662:1998 Incorporating corrigendum no. 1 Hexagon bolts with flange Small series (ISO/DIS 15071:1996, modified) The European Standard EN 1662:1997 has the status of a British Standard ICS 21.060.10 BS EN 1662:1998 This British Standard, having been prepared under the direction
、 of the Engineering Sector Board, was published under the authority of the Standards Board and comes into effect on 15 April 1998 BSI 2007 ISBN 0 580 29329 7 National foreword This British Standard was published by BSI. It is the UK implementation of EN 1662:1997, incorporating corrigendum February
、2007. The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted by Technical Committee FME/9, Bolts, nuts and accessories, to Subcommittee FME/9/6, General purpose fasteners and accessories. A list of organizations represented on FME/9/6 can be obtained on request to its secretary. This publication does
、 not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users are responsible for its correct application. Compliance with a British Standard cannot confer immunity from legal obligations. WARNING The United Kingdom as a member of CEN is obliged to publish EN 1662:1997 as a British Stand
、ard. However, attention is drawn to the fact that during the development of this European Standard the United Kingdom has consistently voted against its approval as a European Standard. The UK believes that the corresponding ISO Standard, ISO/DIS 15071:1996 should have been implemented as the Europe
、an Standard. As far as the UK is concerned, it is dangerous and not acceptable to have a separate European Standard that differs from the corresponding ISO Standard by the across flats dimension for one size of fastener, all other requirements being identical between the two standards concerned. As
、part of BSIs duty of care, we draw attention to users of this standard to our concerns that M12 bolts to this standard differ from similar fasteners conforming to ISO/DIS 15071:1996 in the across the flats dimension only. This is 16 mm in the European Standard and 15 mm in the ISO. BSI will assume n
、o liability whatsoever for the failure on the part of any user of this standard not to consider this aspect. Precautions are urged to ensure that commingling of M12 bolts to the two standards concerned is avoided. Amendments issued since publication Amd. No. Date Comments 17055 Corrigendum No. 1 30

、1996 was approved by CEN as a European Standard with agreed common modifications given as below. Bolts according to this European Standard correspond to those specified in the Draft International Standard ISO/DIS 15071:1996 with the exception that the width across flats for M12 is 16 mm (instead of
、15 mm) and that the property class 9.8 was deleted. BSI 2007Page 3 EN 1662:1997 1 Scope This European Standard specifies the characteristics of hexagon flange bolts, small series, with threads from M5 up to and including M16 and with property classes 8.8, 10.9 and A2-70. 2 Normative references This
