APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material requiring highflange loads to seal against internal pressures at

Steel to SteelTest Method: A 15.9 mm I.D. x 38.1 mm O.D. test specimen is clampedbetween 2 discs of 13.5 mm I.D. x 51 mm O.D. metal plates (maximumthickness 1.57 mm) backed by 12.7 mm steel plates. A 12.7 mm steelbolt is inserted through the hole and a nut put on it. Tighten thebolt t

12、o 79 N/m. Heat the assembly to 149 +/- 3 C for 5 h. Removeand allow to cool to room temperature. The specimen shall come offthe m etal plates without tearing and the metal plates must show noevidence of corrosion.3.10 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its optio

13、n, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spec

14、traand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.11 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval

15、. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced. 16、 inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials abi

17、lity to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be su

18、bmitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior ap

19、proval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringa

20、ctivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateri al will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassessment of suitability for i ntended processes and/or applications. Uponapprov al, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
