、ESSED ESE-M8G168-ANONASBESTOS SHEET1. SCOPEThe material defined by this sp ecification consists of a nonasbestos sheetwith a sy nthetic rubber binder secured equally on both sides of a lowcarbon steel core. The assembly is coated with a barrier, anticorrosiveand antistick coatings.2. APPLICATIONThis
、 specification was released originally for material used for thecylinder heads, exhaust manifol ds and carburetor to intake manifold gasketwhe re a material with high compressive strength at high temperatures isrequired.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 CONSTRUCTIONConsists of a low carbon steel core with a sheet
、consisting of syn-theti c elastomeric binders and nonasbestos reinforcing compoundsbonded or clinched to each side of the steel core. The assembly iscover ed with a barrier-anticorrosive - sealing antistick coat orcoatings.3.1.1 Steel CoreLow carbon steel, thickness as specified on engineeringdrawin
、g.3.1.2 Nonasbestos Sheet and Synthetic Rubber BinderThe nonasbestos sheet s hall be plied uniformly and bonded orclinched to each side o f the steel core to meet requirementsof the application at the thickness specified on theengineering drawing.3.1.3 CoatingsThe assembly shall be coated with heat
、stable no ncarbonizing, oil, c oolant, and gasoline resistant film to meet all therequirements of the application. The coatings a re applied tothe gasket surfaces and shall not be removable as acontinuous film.ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONESE-M8G168-AWP 3948-b Page 2 of 4 3.2 FINISHED GASKETAll
