SCOPE: This standard describes the requirements for Gas WeldersCoverall Goggles and recommended usage.2. GENERAL REQUIREM
2、ENTS:2.1 Gas welders cover type goggles must fit over either plano orprescription safety glasses as approved in Manufacturing StandardSD3-1 and Industrial Relations Administration Manual, Volume III,Section C, Topic 700. The gas welders coverall goggles are to beprovided with impact resistant 1.97 i
3、nches (50mm) diameter filterlens and clear cover lens that meet the filtering and impactrequirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)standard Z87.1-1979 and later revisions as they appear.2.2 Flat plastic filter lens, provided they meet the filtering andimpact requirements of ANSI
4、 Standard Z87.1-1979 or later revisionsas they appear, are also acceptable and may be used instead of glassfilter lens. Cover lens shall also be used.2.3 Welders general purpose cup goggles are not approved as they do notfit over plano or prescription safety glasses.3. RECOMMENDED USAGE:3.1 Gas weld
5、ers coverall goggles are intended for use by persons doinggas welding. With the proper filter lens, they may also be usedwhere the attenuation of infrared or ultraviolet rays from sources,other than gas welding, but not including arc welding is required.3.2 The selection of plastic or glass cover le
6、ns shall be predicated onthe longest service for the type of exposure.3.3 Approved occupational safety glasses shall be worn in conjunctionwith coverall goggles.4. SPECIFICATIONS:4.1 Unless otherwise specified, gas welders coverall goggles shallconform to the appropriate requirements of ANSI Standar

ORDERING INFORMATION:5.1 Each order must state the manufacturing standards number, type ofgoggle, type and shade of lens, and type of bridge if other thanwith a brace.5.2 Replacement lenses m
9、ust be ordered for specific applications bysize, type and shade as appropriate.5.3 Table A-1, ANSI Z87.1-1979 standard is to be used to determinefilter shade requirements.6. SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY:6.1 All goggles and lens supplied to this standard must be equivalent inall characteristics to the go
10、ggle and lens upon which approval wasoriginally granted.6.2 The supplier is to certify in writing that all components suppliedunder this standard conform to the requirements of this standard andto ANSI Z87.1-1979 or later revisions as they appear.7. APPROVAL OF NEW SUPPLIERS:7.1 Pricing of goggles f
11、rom proposed new suppliers should be determinedto be cost competitive by Purchasing and Supply Staff prior toobtaining laboratory and shop trial approvals. After the producthas been determined to be cost competitive, gloves submitted by newmanufacturers to this standard and concluded to be cost comp
12、etitivemust have laboratory and shop trial approvals. Recommendations forthe addition of new manufacturers to the Manufacturing ApprovedSource List (ASL) must be made by the appropriate division standardsactivity in writing to the Plant Engineering Office, ManufacturingStaff. All supporting data must accompany the written request.7.2 The Plant Engineering Office, Manufacturing Staff, and theEnvironmental Health and Safety Manager, Employee Relations Staff,will review requests to determine approval.
