SCOPE These material specifications define the minimum acceptable performance requirements and
3、 physical/chemical properties of engine oils to be used by Ford Motor Company in its engine/vehicle manufacturing operations. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for initial fill engine oils used for lubrication of spark ignition engines in flexible fuel vehicles using mixtu
4、res up to 85% methanol in gasoline. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 PERFORMANCE 3.2.1 Shall meet all the requirements of “The ILS
5、AC Minimum Performance Standard for Passenger Car Engine Oils GF-1“. All required engine tests shall be conducted in accordance with the most recently approved procedures as described in ASTM Special Technical Publications 315, 509 and applicable ASTM Research Reports and Information Letters. All te
6、sts under surveillance by ASTM must be conducted using test equipment monitored by and calibrated to the requirements of the ASTM Test Monitoring Center. 3.2.2 Additional Engine Testing Additional engine testing may be requested at the discretion of the affected Material Engineering Activity evaluat

8、 Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 9 3.3 VISCOSITY GRADE Shall meet all the requirements of the applicable SAE viscosity grade as defined in SAE Standard J300 (latest revision), “Engine Oil Viscosity Classification“. 3.4 ENERGY CONSERVING PERFORMANCE (ASTM Sequence VI) Average Improvement (EFE
9、I), min 2.7% vs HR-2 or equivalent All tests must be conducted using test equipment monitored by and calibrated to the requirements of the ASTM Test Monitoring Center. This requirement may be waived at the discretion of the affected Materials Engineering Activity. 3.5 PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL PROPERTIES 3.

11、er and 10% anhydrous methanol shall retain a fluid emulsion for the time and temperature specified. 12、ted above 110 C. 3.5.5 Copper Corrosion, max 1b (dark orange) (ASTM D 130 or ISO 2160, 3 h at 100 C) 3.6 QUALIFICATION PROCEDURE 3.6.1 Required Fleet Testing (1) The oil must be tested in flexible fuel vehicle for 50,000 miles in customer/durability type service. The fuel used should be M85 methanol
13、 concentration for at least 75% of the test duration. 14、ld climate. The fuel used shall be at the maximum (M85) methanol concentration for at least two winters of below freezing ambient temperatures. During the testing period no unusual problems attributable to the fuel-oil interaction shall be allowed. At the end of the test, the engine shall be examine
15、d for unusual wear and corrosion. No unusual wear or corrosion shall be allowed. The oil change interval for the test period shall be the same as or longer than the change interval recommended in the Owners Manual and Maintenance Schedule. 3.6.2 Documentation Supplier must furnish to the affected Ma
16、terials Engineering activity a completed and certified copy of the attached Supplement A and test reports demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification. The test reports must include results on both the candidate oil and the appropriate ASTM reference oils. The standa
17、rd photographs of the test components are considered an essential part of the required test documentation. The oil sample code used for identification in each test document must be consistent. Any deviation in sample code uniformity must be explained and shown on the cover of each test report. All t
18、ests must be certified by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility. 3.6.3 “Read Across“ Guidelines It is recommended that all performance tests be conducted on the final formulation, however, some exceptions may be permitted on an individual basis. Supplementary supportive data
19、 on similar formulations may be necessary in determining final approval. Minimum Energy Conserving performance of the SAE 5W-30 oil may be established on the corresponding SAE 10W-30 formulation. 3.6.4 Verification The affected Materials Engineering activity reserves the right to conduct verificatio
20、n testing. If the test results do not support the originally submitted data, the supplier must re-test the product in coordination with the affected Materials Engineering activity. This re-test must be conducted and certified by a mutually agreed upon test facility. 3.6.5 Chemical and Physical Prope
21、rties Supplier shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties as required on Supplement A along with the manufacturing limits that apply to the material upon which approval is requested. 3.6.6 Quality Control Upon engineering approval, supplier and affected Materials Engineering activity
22、 shall establish mutually agreed upon quality control limits, to be listed on Supplement B, and will be used for ongoing product verifications at mutually agreed upon frequencies. The infrared absorption spectra of the approved material shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on fi
23、le. All samples shall produce infrared curves that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions as those specified on the master curve.
