SCOPEThe material defined by these specifications is a gasketing materialcomprised of a solid or perforated low carbon steel or s tainless steel coreco

3、vered equally on both sides with a compressed graphite sheet.WSE-M8G227-A2 gasket composite is rubber encapsulated.2. APPLICATIONTh ese specification were released originally for material requiring highcompressive strength and high t emperature resistance such as cylinder headgasket(s). 3. REQUIREME

4、NTSNote : All tests shall be conducted in accordance with ASTM F 104 Type 7mat erial unless otherwise specified. Test specimens are to be selectedfrom finished gaskets when practicable.Prior to testing the materials shall be conditioned in an oven at 100 +/-2 C for 1 hour and allowed to cool to 21 t

5、o 30 C in a de siccator containinganhydrous calcium chloride.3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must b

6、e used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra a

7、nd thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesignated material laboratory. All samples sha ll produce IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.ENGINEERING MAT

18、to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of the mater ial originallyapproved under this specificati on, whether or not such changes affectthe materials ability to meet the specification requirements, theSupplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicolo

19、gy and the affectedMaterials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain thewritten approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data,test sam ples and a new code identification are to be submitted withthe request.Substa nce restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply

20、 toth e materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMaterials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofth

21、eir mat erials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffecte d Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringact ivity a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and autho

22、rized repres entative of the test facility, demonstratingfu ll compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), t he material designation and code number, andtest spec imens for Ford evaluation. Fords engineering approval of amateria l will be based on its performance to this specification and on anassess ment of suitability for intended processes and/or applications. Uponapproval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material ApprovedSource List.
