SCOPE These sp
3、ecifications define the performance requirements for an adhesive or adhesive system suitable for bonding headlamps, rear lamps, or other lamps of varying substrates. 2. APPLICATION WSB-M11P28-B: This specification was released originally for an adhesive or an adhesive system used to bond lenses to b
4、odies in construction of vented and non-vented lamp assemblies. WSS-M11P28-B2: This specification was released originally for an adhesive or an adhesive system used to bond lenses to bodies in the construction of vented lamp assemblies only. Use of this specification in non-vented headlamp assembly
5、applications is not recommended. Mechanical attachments may be required depending on the lamp design. If mechanical attachments are required, it shall be noted on the assembly drawing. Materials meeting these performance specifications are identified on the Corporate Approved Source List along with
6、specific substrates for each lamp design. Compliance with these performance specifications does not guarantee the adhesive or adhesive system will function for all potential applications on a vehicle. The specific design condition must be evaluated prior to release of these materials. 3. REQUIREMENT

12、oove plaques shall consist of materials molded by an approved source as recommended by Body Engineering. . Clean the surfaces to be bonded with a hot, soapy water solution. The soap shall be free-rinsing, similar to that used for glassware. After cleaning, the plaques are blown dry and aged at 23 +/
13、- 2 C for 24 h to insure dryness. . Dispense an adequate amount of adhesive into the groove plaque. After the appropriate open time for the adhesive being tested, the tongue is inserted into the adhesive filled groove. Remove any excess adhesive. Maintain proper alignment of the assemblies during cu
14、re. Cure the assemblies as indicated by the adhesive manufacturer. . Test the assemblies at a crosshead speed of 12.7 mm/minute. Note: Proper alignment of the test assembly is critical. Every effort should be made to maintain uniform tension across the bond area. Cleavage and/or peel of the bond are
15、a could yield inaccurate results. . Evaluate a minimum of three assemblies per condition. Report failure mode and peak load in newtons. 3.3 CREEP RESISTANCE (WSB-M11P28-B only) No slippage (ASTM D 1780, prepare test samples per para 3.2, apply a 4.5 kg dead weight load to test samples and expose to

Prepare t
17、est assemblies as illustrated in Figure 1. Test substrates shall consist of 100 x 250 mm panels identified in para 4.1. Cure bonded assemblies as indicated by the adhesive manufacturer. . Mechanically attach bonded test assembly to a 0.76 x 300 x 300 mm CRS base panel. Centrally locate test assembly
18、 on base panel. . Conduct test as outlined per FLTM BV 101-02 following steps 9, 10 and 11. Position panel in slam fixture with reinforcement facing inward. Subject each test assembly to 10 cycles of six slams per cycle at - 30 +/- 1 C. 3.5 LAMP PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Parts assembled with adhesive
19、 shall meet all engineering requirements specified by Design Engineering and as indicated on the appropriate prints. 3.6 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affecte
20、d assembly operation and Design Engineering. Results shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior to material approval and release. 4.
