SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers
2、 120-volt standard navigation lights for use on ships over 65 feet (20 meters) in length operating in international waters, and Navy unique lights that are modified standard navigation lights. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The light fixtures shall conform to the following types . and styles. 2.1 Type. 2.1.1 St
3、andard Naviaation Liahts: (a) Masthead light (white, 6 nautical mile (nm) visibility). (b) Port side light (red, 3 nm visibility). (c) Starboard side light (green, 3 nm visibility). (d) Stern light (white, 3 nm visibility). (e) Towing light, (yellow, 3 nm visibility). (f) All-round white light (3 nm
4、 visibility). (9) All-round red light (3 nm visibility). (h) All-round green light (3 nm visibility). (i) All-round yellow light (3 nm visibility). (1) All-round flashing light (yellow, 3 nm visibility). 2.1.2 Navy Unique Lights: (a) Blue stern light (3 nm visibility). This light shall be the same (

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3
8、.1 Basic Requirements. Standard navigation lights shall meet UL 1104 and be classified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. in accordance with the International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea, 1972 (72 COLREGS). Navy unique navigation lights shall meet all of the requirements for stand
9、ard navigation lights except for color. Navy unique lights shall be classified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to this document. 3.2 Electrical Requirements. Fixtures shall be designed to operate satisfactorily on a 120-volt, single-phase, ungrounded system. The insulation resistance between all c
10、urrent-carrying and noncurrent-carrying parts of the fixture shall be at least 1 megohm. 3.3 Color Specification of Navy Unique Lights. The chromaticity of blue Navy unique lights shall be within the boundary indicated below, as specified by SM J578. The boundaries of the area for the color “restric
11、ted blue” are indicated as follows : y = 0.07 + 0.81 x = 0.40 - y x = 0.13 + 0.60 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Recovered Materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regu
12、lation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 5.1 Product Conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered
13、for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Metric Products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within specified toleranc
14、es using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of FED-STD-376 and all other requirements of this commercial item description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request shall be made t
15、o the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 6. PACKAGING 6.1 .
