SCOPE 1.1 This document governs the manufac

2、ture, assembly and preparation for delivery of the MARK 127 MOD O impulse cartridge and the methods of inspection and tests upon which product accep- tance will be based. 2. Orders for the above publication should cite the latest edition and supplements thereto.) 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 The MARK 127 MOD O i

10、mpulse cartridge covered by this document shall be manufactured in accordance with DL 2519678 and all documents listed thereon. 3.2 Material. All materials used in the manufacture of the cartridges shall conform strictly to the specifications referred to on the respective Bureau of Naval Weapons dra

11、wings unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therefrom has been obtained from the Navy design activity prior to manufacture. materials or methods of manufacture are specified on the drawings, the bidders selections shall be clearly stated in the proposal. When alternate 3.2.1 Prepr

12、oduction sample. Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, a preproduction sample of 76 MARK 127 MOD O impulse cartridges shall be manufactured using the same methods and procedures proposed for the production lot. tested as specified in 4.3.2 to determine whether the contractor, prior t

13、o starting production, is capable of manufacturing items which comply with the technical requirements of the contract. The sample will be 3.3 Primary components. For the purposes of this specifkcation, the primer (116M-282A), Army Ordnance Drawing B-6200959, and the main propellant charge are define

14、d as primary components. See 4.3.3. 3.3.1 The primers used in the MARK 127 MOD O impulse cartridge shall be r ac tured loaded with Olin Industries primer mixture No282A, manu- in accordance with.Army Ordnance Drawing B-6200959 (116M-282A) i- - Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-C-1575 13 W

15、 777770b OV33255 L and accepted in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-P-46610, Class 1. The primers shall be from lots manufactured within a year past. See 4.7.1. 3.3.2 The overall assembled height of the primers used in the MARK 127 MOD O impulse cartridge shall be .119 + ,002 inch.

16、 Primers accepted in accordance with 3.3.1 shall be screened for selection of primers that meet the above dimensional requirement. 3.4 Primer X-ray. A11 primers shall be X-rayed and screened for defects as prescribed in 4.7.2. 3.5 Propellant charge. 3.5.1 Quantity. Propellant charge weights shall be

17、 as specified on Bureau of Naval Weapons Drawing 2519678 of LD 2519678. shall. be determined by weight rather.than by volume measurements. Charges 3.5.2 Smokeless powder, handling and loading. Do not subject the smokeless powder to unnecessary handling or exposure to the atmosphere. The handling and

18、 loading of smokeless powder exposed to the atmosphere shall be performed only under conditions that do not permit the relative humidity to exceed 75 percent. c 3.5.3 Smokeless powder condition. The smokeless powder utilized shall exhibit no evidence of decomposition. See 4.7.3. 3.5.4 Change in prop

19、ellant lot. Whenever a change occurs in the propellant lot for the main charge, validity of the charge determination shall be verified by performing the test prescribed in 4.9. 3.6 Cartridge inspection. 3.6.1 Visual inspection. The complete cartridge shall be free of the visible defects noed in 4.7.

20、4. 3.6.2 Leakage. cartridge. See 4.7.5. There shall be no leakage of air in the completed 3.6.3 X-ray. All cartridges manufactured under contract shall pass X-ray examination of 4.7.6. 3.7 Ballistic requirements. Cartridges from each production lot, selected in accordance with 4.2, shall meet the re

21、quirements listed below when subjected to the test prescribed in 4.7.7. 4 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-C-1575 33 m 7779706 0433256 3 m MIL-C-81595(As) 3.7.1 Velocity. 1.0 pound projectile shall be U = 215 ft/sec and L = 115 ft/sec, respectively, when tested in accordance with 4.7.7.

22、The upper and lower .limit of the velocity of the 3.7.2 Misfire. There shall be no misfires. See 4.7.7.2. 3.7.3 Hangfire. There shall be no hangfires. See 4.7.7.3. 3.8 Workmanship. Cartridges shall be constructed and finished in a manner to assure compliance with all requirements of this specifi- ca

23、tion. finishes and coatings. Particular attention should be directed to dimensions, 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 nless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise

24、 specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in *e specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to

25、prescribed requirements. 4.2 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified, and when applicable, the sampling plans and procedures used in the determination of the acceptability of products submitted by a supplier shall be in accor- dance with Table A-2, Inspection Level IV of MIL-STD-414. Unless otherwise s

26、pecified in the contract, order, or requisition, all samples for test purposes shall be provided at the expense of the contractor. 4.3 Lots. - 4.3.1 Inspection lots. Inspection lot definition, formation and size shall be in accordance with NIL-STD-414. 4.3.2 Preproduction sample. Before entering int

27、o quantity production, an acceptable preproduction sample of 76 MARK 127 MOD O impulse cartridges shall be prepared. Sixty-six of these cartridges shall be expened in the tests listed below and 10 shall be retained for investigative purposes. A preproduction sample acceptable for environmental and b

28、allistic testing shall be defined as a sample which has met the requirements of 3.1 through 3.6 of this specification. The contractor shall deliver the cartridges to the activity designated by the contracting agency for test. Listed below are the environmental 5 Licensed by Information Handling Serv

29、icesMIL-C-1575 13 = 7797706 0431257 5 tests to be performed on the ?reproduction sample followed by the number of cartridges required for each test: 15 “g“ shock (6), vibration (G), and 14 days temperature and humidity cycling (18). ?!lese cartridges, subsequent to ex,posure to the environmental tes

30、ts described in :UL-D-21625, are to be conditioned for a minimum of 12 hours at +70F + 5F together with 12 cartridges that received no previous environmental conditioning and fired in accordance with 4.7.7 of this document. In additior 12 Cartridges each shall be conditioned for a minimum of 12 hour

31、s at -65F + Sol? and +16OoF + 5F and fired as prescribed in 4.7.7 to ch -ck temperature sensitivity. The contractor shall provide himself with whatever gages are necessary and adequate to insure that the material to which this specificatio

35、n applies will meet the dimensional requirements shown on the applicable drawings. 4.5 Classification of characteristics. The characteristics verified by the tests and examinations herein are classified as Critical, J4ajor or I,:,nor in accordance with WR-43. Tests and exami- nations that verify xit

36、ical characteristics are identified by the symbol (C), and major Characteristics by the symbol (M). The number following the classification symbol indicates the serial number of test or examination. Tests and examinations which are not annotated with a classification code are clssified minor. 4.6 Pr

37、oduction and acceptance inspection. (f.1104) The inspector shall ascertain that the packing and packaging of the cartridges and the container markings conform to Section 5 of this document. 4.7 Tests. 4.7.1 Primer verification. Verification shall be obtained that the primers to be used were manufactured within a ye

41、ar past and were furnished from lots certified by the supplier to have been loaded and accepted in accordance with 3.3.1. 4.7.2 Primer :-ray. Primers should be mounted in suitable grooved racks. For the most revealing ex.posure, the primers are laid on their side with the anvil cutouts vertical. use

45、esistance to moisture. 4.7.5 Leakage. Each cartridge in the preproduction sample and ballistic sample will be leak tested in a dry gas leak tester. Car- tridges which exhibit a leak rate in excess of cc/sec of air at a pressure differential of 1 + 0.1 atmosphere shall he consiered defective. If one

46、or more cartridges of the ballistic sample leak, then a leak test of each cartridge purchased under contract for the lot being tested shall be required. If a 100 percent leak test of the lot is required, it shall be at the expense of the contractor. Cartridges which exhibit a leak rate in excess of

47、that specified above shall be rejected. 4.7.6 X-ray of cartridge. Examine all cartridges by X-ray and any observable imperfections in assedly shall be cause for rejection. Particular attention should be given to the presence of the main propellant charge. acceptance of cartridges. X-ray plates may b

48、e destroyed after ballistic 4.7.7 Ballistic test. 4.7.7.1 The number of cartridges selected from each production lot for the ballistic test shall be in accordance with the requirements of Table A-2, Inspection Level IV of :IL-STD-414. shall be accepted if the sample fulfills the ballistic requiremen

49、ts of 3.7 at an AQL of 0.04 upon the performance of the following ballistic test. The cartridges shall be conditioned at +7OoF + SF for a minimum of 12 hours and fired in an Atlas Drogue Thruster, P/N CO82-2 or equivalent. time from sear removal from the firing mechanism to first motion of the 1 pound thruster projectile. The projectile velocity shall be measured over the interval from 2 to 5 feet after start of the projectile motion.
