The polish furnished under this specifi-cation shall be a product which is qualified for listing on tbeapplicable Qualified Products List at the time set for opening ofbids (see 4.3.1 and

18、 6.3).3.2 Materials. The composition of the polish shall be optionalwith tbe manufacturer, but shall be restricted by requirements speci-fied herein. The polish shall contain no ingredient or impuritieswhich may cause tbe formation of hydrogen sulfide.3.2.1 Toxicity. The polish shall have no adverse

19、 effect on thehealth of personnel, when used for its intended purpose. Questionspertinent to this effect shall be referred by the procuring activityto the appropriate medical service who will act as adviser to tbeprocuring activity (see 4.3.1 and 6.4) Tbe manufacturer shall cer-tify that tbe polish

20、contains no substance known to be toxic to tbeuser under normal conditions of use. Material safety data sheetsshall be prepared and submitted in accordance with Fed. Std. No. 313one copy of which shall be forwarded to the preparing activity of tbespecification.3.3 Cleaning and anti-static characteri

21、stics . The polish shalldry sufficiently to permit easy removal 10 minutes after being app-lied, and shall continue to be removable for at least 24 hours. Thecompound, with no more than two applications, shall efficientlyremove from plastic surfaces all residue, masking glue, lubricatingoil, lubrica

22、ting grease, and soil. Tbe cleaned surfaces, afterpolishing, shall be free from any trace of oily film, residue ormarring; and shall produce a parallel luminous transmittance readingof not less than 89.0 percent, and shall show no indication of staticcharge when tested as specified in 4.4.1.3.4 Poli

23、shing efficiency. After being polished as specified in4.4.2, the acrylic panels shall be free from residue, discoloration,or marring. The panels shall produce a parallel luminous transmit-tance of not less than 89.0 percent.3.5 Stress crazing. The polish, when applied as specified in4.4.3, shall not

24、 chemically attack or craze acrylic plastic under2000 pounds per square inch (p.s.i ) stress.3.6 Flash point. The polish, when tested as specified in.4.f+.5, shall not discolor, chemically attack or cause corrosion onthe surfaces or between the foying edges of aluminum-clad aluminumalloy or chrome pickle treated magnesium alloy. A slight discolor-ation of the faying surfaces sh

26、all not be considered objectionable.3.8 Cnking number (type I polish only). When the type I polishis tested os specified in 4.4.6, the caking number shall not exceed30.3.9 Accelerated storage stability. The polish, after beingtested as specified in 4.4.7, shall not separate, crystllize norshow any o

27、ther significant change in physical properties. Tbe polishthat has been subjected to tbe accel.eroted storage stability testshall then confocm to the requirements of 3.3, 3.5, 3.7, and 3.8.3.10 Room temperature storage stability. The polish, afterbeing stored as specified in 4.4.8, shall not separat

28、e, crystallize,cause corrosion of the container, nor show any other significantchange in physical properties. After completing the room temperaturestornee oeriod. the oolish shall then confocm to the requirements of3.3, ;.4: 3.5, 3.7, n-rtd3.8.i II153.11 Consistency (type 1 only). Tbe type I polish,

29、 when testedaccordance with 4.4.9, shall flow to a point within tbe 10 cm andcm marks in 50 seconds.3.12 Scratching properties. The polish, when tested as speci-fied in 6.4.10, shall not scr=cb either acrylic plastic surface toa greater extent than the control focmula product prepared IIS speci-fied

30、 in Table 111.3.13 Ease of removal. The polish, after having been appliedand dried as specified in L.L.11, shall be easily wiped from thesurface of the test panel. Dcying time shall not exceed ten minutesand the dried film shall be completely removed by four passes of theflannel cloth covered holder

31、.3.14 Workmanship. Tbe polish when examined visually, shall bea smooth homogeneous mixture , free of lumps.4. QUALITY ASSUMNCE PROVISIONS.?4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specifiedin the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible fOrthe performance of all inspectio

33、ction requirements specified herein, unless disap-proved by tbe Government. Tbe Government reserves the right toperform any of the inspections set forth in the specification wheresuch inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies andservices conform to prescribed requirements4.2 Classific

34、ation of inspections. The inspection requirementsspecified berein are classified as follows:a. Qualification inspection (see 4.2.1)b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.2.2)4.2.1 Qualification inspection. The qualification inspectionperformed by the qualifying laboratory shall consist of a review

35、 foraPPrOval Of the manufacturers report (4.3.1) to determine compliancewith all of the requirements of Section 3 of this specification.Unless otherwise specified, the qualification inspection will not becomplete until conformance to the storage stability requirement(3.10) bas been established.4.2.1

36、.1 Retention of qualification. In order to retain quali-fication of a product approved for listing on the Qualified ProductsList (QPL), tbe manufacturer shall verify by certification to thequalifying activity that the manufacturer s product complies with tberequirements of this specification. The ti

37、me of periodic verifi-cation by certification shall be in two-year intervals from the dateof original qualification. The Government reserves the right tore-examine the qualified product whenever deemed necessary to deter-mine that the product continues to meet any or all of the specifi-cation requir

38、ements.4.2.2 Quality conformance inspection. Tbe quality conformanceinspection shall consist of an examination of the sample of filledcontainers (fI.3.2.2) to determine conformance to packaging, packingand marking requirements of section 5 and the examination and testingof each sample (4.3.2.1) to d

40、-560B4.3 Samples.4.3.1 Qualification sample. This sample shall consist of eightl-quart 0.95 1) containers of the Dolish. The sample shall beacompanied by n report from the manufacturer or on acceptable com-mercial laboratory. The report in duplicate shall show the productinspection results for all t

41、he requirements of this specification andshall refer specifically to the applicable requirements in the speci-fication. The contractor shall furnish the toxicological data(3.2.1) necessary to evaluate the safety of the polish for its inten-ded use. A statement shall include the chemical name ond the

42、 percentof each ingredient. These reports shall be signed by an authorizedrepresentative and shall be accompanied by evidence of the agentsauthority to bind his principal. The samples shell be focwrded tothe Supply Officer, Naval Air Development Center, Wncminster, PA18974, ATTN: Oirector, Aircraft

43、and Crew Systems Technology Oirec-torote, Code 60622. Samples shall be plainly identified by securelyattached durable tags with the following infocmntion:Sample for qualification inspectionPolish, PlasticTypeName of ManufacturerProduct code numberDate of manufactureBatch or lot numberSubmitted by (n

44、ame) (date) for qualification inspec-tion in accordance wiLb tbe requicemencs of specifi-cation P-P-560B under authorization of (referenceauthorizing letter) (See 6.3).4.3.2 fJu81ityconformance samples.4.3.2.1 Quality conformance sample for tests. The sample unitshrillbe 16 ounces (0.47 1) for type

45、I polish and 1 pound (0.65 kg)for type II polish. These samples shall be selected at random fromench lot (4.3.2.3) in accordance with tfIL-STO-105 at inspection levels-2. Tbe lot shall be unacceptable if any sampLe fnils to meet anyof the test requirements specified.4.3.2.2 Examination of preparatio

46、n for delivery. Anexamination shall be mnde to determine that packaging , packing anda75arking comply with the requirements of Secti incorrect, illegible, impropersize, location, sequence or method ofapplicationMaterialsIComponent missing or damagedWorkmanship I Bulging or distortion of containers4.

47、3.2.2.1 Examination of closure and strapping of shippingcontainer. When shipping containers are required to be in accordancewith PPP-B-636, examination for defects and strapping shall be inaccordance with the appendix to PPP-B-636.4.3.2.3 Size of a lot. A lot shall consist of all the polishmanufactu

48、red at approximately the same time, frOm the same batch Ofmaterial, and submitted for inspection at the same time. The lotsize shall be expressed in pints for type I polish and in pounds fortype II polish.4.4 Test conditions Unless otherwise specified herein, test-ing conditions shall be in accordan

49、ce with Section 4 of Fed. TestMethod Std. 406.4.6.1 Cleaning and antistatic characteristics.4.4.1.1 Test panels. Four pieces of acrylic plastic, measuring4 by 4 by 1/4 inches, (10.2 by 10.2 by 0.64 cm) conforming to finishA, MIL-P-5L25 , and four pieces of acrylic plastic, measuring 4 by 4by 1/4 inches, (10.2 by 10.2 by 0.64 cm) conforming to MIL-P-25690,shall have their masking paper removed.
