、Designation: E736/E736M 00 (Reapproved 2015)1Standard Test Method forCohesion/Adhesion of Sprayed Fire-Resistive MaterialsApplied to Structural Members1This standard is issued under the fixed designation E736/E736M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adopt
、ion or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense
、.1NOTEDesignation was changed to dual and units information was corrected editorially in September 2015.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers a procedure for measuring thecohesion/adhesion or bond strength (tensile) perpendicular tothe surface of sprayed fire-resistive material (SFRM) applied torigid
、backing. These fire-resistive materials include sprayedfibrous and cementitious materials. The test method is appli-cable to both laboratory and field procedures as indicated inSection 7.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values
、 stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety problems, if any, associated with its
、 use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Summary of Test Method3.1 The cohesion/adhesion is determined using a metal orplastic cap with a hook attach
、ed. The cap is attached to theSFRM with a suitable adhesive. An increasing load, measuredby a scale, is applied manually until failure occurs.4. Significance and Use4.1 The intent of this test method is to determine a propertyof SFRM that may be used to provide an indication of itsin-place serviceab

Satisfactory performance of SFRMapplied to structural members and assemblies depends upon itsability to withstand the various influences that may occurduring construction and during the life of the structure, as wellas upon its satisfactory performance under fire conditions.5.
