、 form 8 DIN 67510-2:2002-10 3 Foreword This standard has been prepared by Working Committee FNL 19 Leuchtfarben of the Normenausschuss Lichttechnik (FNL) (Lighting Technology Standards Committee). This standard is recognized by the Hauptverband der gewerblichen Berufsgenossenschaften (Federation of
、German Industrial Employers Liability Insurance Associations). DIN 67510 consists of the following parts, under the general title Phosphorescent pigments and products: Part 1: Measurement and marking at the producer Part 2: Measurement of phosphorescent products on site Part 3: Low location lighting
、 system Part 4: Products for phosphorescent escape route systems Markings and applications Annex A is informative. Amendments This standard differs from DIN 67510-2:1992-01 as follows: harmonization with the measuring conditions in DIN 67510-1. Previous editions DIN 67510-2: 1992-01 DIN 67510-2:2002
、-10 4 1 Scope This standard applies to the measurement of the luminescence of phosphorescent products at the place where they are used. This standard specifies the measurement of illuminance on the phosphorescent product and of the change in the luminance of the phosphorescent product over time. 2 N

、sphorescent pigments and products Measurement and marking at the producer 3 Terms and definitions See DIN 67510-1. 4 Measurements 4.1 Measuring conditions Measurements shall be carried out in the normal conditions to be found at the place of use, particularly as regards illumination and temperature.
、 The illumination equipment shall be switched on at least 15 min before the measurements begin. 4.2 Measurement of the illuminance 4.2.1 Illuminance measuring instrument The level and uniformity of illuminance shall be determined using an illuminance measuring instrument, which shall meet the follow
、ing requirements: a) measurement range of at least 10 lx to 10 klx; b) diameter of the light aperture of the photometer head 80 % of the measured surface; c) other parameters according to class B as specified in DIN 5032-7. DIN 67510-2:2002-10 5 4.2.2 Procedure To measure the illuminance on the phos
、phorescent product to be evaluated, the light aperture of the photometer head shall be mounted in front of the phosphorescent product parallel to its surface at the place where the luminance is then be measured in accordance with 4.3. 4.3 Measurement of luminance as a function of time 4.3.1 General
、There shall be a waiting period of 5 min between the end of the illuminance measurement and the start of the luminance measurement as a function of time. During this period, the phosphorescent product shall again be exposed to excitation using the existing illumination conditions. 4.3.2 Measurement
、of luminance If luminance is to be measured directly, a luminance meter which meets the following requirements shall be used: a) measurement range of at least 105cd/m2to 10 cd/m2; b) a display with at least 3 digits; minimum value: 0,001 102, maximum value: 1,999 10; c) other parameters according to
、 class B as specified in DIN 5032-7. The distance between the luminance meter and the measured object, and the aperture angle of the luminance meter shall be chosen so that an area of the measured object with a diameter of 35 mm to 50 mm is evaluated. If the shape of the measured object means that d
、ifferent areas are measured, this shall be noted in the measurement record. 4.3.3 Determining the luminance by measuring illuminance 4.3.3.1 Principle The change in luminance over time is determined using an illuminance measurement. NOTE The relationship between luminance and illuminance is defined
、by Equation (1): L = EL/p (1) where L is the mean luminance of the object being examined; E is the illuminance at a defined reference point on the light aperture of the photometer head; p is the projected solid angle which the evaluated area of the measured object makes with the centre of the light
、aperture of the photometer head. (See DIN 5031-3 for definitions) The projected solid angle p is calculated from Equation (2):p = (1 + (r/R)2)1 0 (2) where DIN 67510-2:2002-10 6 0 is the standard solid angle; 0 = 1 sr; r is the distance of the light aperture of the photometer head from the measured
、object; R is the radius of the plane of the evaluated area of the measured object. 4.3.3.2 Measurement geometry The measurements shall be made using the following measurement geometry: a) diameter of the evaluated area of the measured object: 35 mm to 50 mm; b) the distance between the measured obje
、ct and the light aperture of the photometer head is equal to the diameter of the evaluated area. If the shape of the measured object means that different areas are measured, this shall be noted in the measurement record. 4.3.3.3 Illuminance measuring instrument The illuminance measuring instrument s
、hall meet the following requirements: a) measurement range when converting the display to luminance: 105cd/m2to 10 cd/m2; b) display with at least 3 digits; minimum value: 0,001 102, maximum value: 1,999 10; c) other parameters according to class B as specified in DIN 5032-7 with the exception of th
、e cos evaluation (f2), for which there are no requirements. NOTE An analogue output and/or a computer interface (e.g. in accordance with DIN 66348-1) is recommended for recording purposes. The use of a photometer head with thermostat is also recommended if the ambient temperature is less than 15 C.
、4.3.4 Effect of stray light Stray light entering the light aperture of the photometer head or the surface of the phosphorescent product shall be prevented as far as possible during the measurement, or its effects shall be corrected. NOTE Stray light occurs when artificial light or daylight is incide
、nt on the measured object and is reflected or transmitted by it, causing the luminance of the measured object to appear greater than that which is actually produced by phosphorescence. Stray light can also occur when artificial light or daylight is incident on the light aperture of the photometer he
、ad used for the measurement. 4.3.5 Procedure The luminance of the phosphorescent product shall be measured 10 min, 30 min and 60 min after the end of excitation. 5 Measurement record A record shall be kept of the measurement, containing at least the following information: a) phrase: “measured in acc
