SCOPE 1.1 This standard covers the general requirements for direct current (D.C.) metalized electrode, fim and/or paper dielectric fixed capacitors in metallic and non-metallic cases. Capacitors listed in this standard are used
8、primarily for filtering, bypass, coupling and blocking purposes where D.C. voltages predominate. They are characterized by small size (compared to metal foil electrode capacitors) and by the ability to “clear”, or resume functioning, within specification limits, following momentary breakdowns. Appli
9、cations using capacitors described in this standard should be those where high values of insulation resistance are not essential and where momentary breakdowns can be tolerated. 12、th pertinent data on each listed style is contained in the appendices of this Standard. 2.1.2.1.1 Style 08 is a hermetically sealed, metal cased tubular capacitor with axial leads and uninsulated case. 27、ss than 80% 3.2 Testing Program 3.2.1 Recommended order of tests shall be in the sequence listed in Table II. 3.2.2 agreement between the user and the supplier. 31、 3.4.1.1 Capacitors shall withstand a steady pull as specified in the detail parts specification applied to the terminal in the direction of terminal egress, for 10 seconds, per RS-186, Method 6, Type 1. Terminals shall not fracture or break, nor shall there be any damage to the capacitor or seal. 3
32、.4.2 Bending Test 3.4.2.1 Capacitors shall have the load specified in the detail parts specifications freely suspended from each of its leads in turn, for two (2) bends per RS-186, Method 6, Type III test. Two bends in opposite direction shall be applied. The leads shall not fracture or break, nor s
33、hall there be any damage to the capacitor or seal. 3.4.3 Ductility Test 3.4.3.1 Five complete turns of each lead shall be wound around a cylinder having a diameter equal to the nominal diameter of the lead wire. The leads and lead coating shall not fracture or break. 3.4.4 Solderability Test 3.4.4.1
34、 Lead wires shall be subjected to solderability tests of EIA Standard RS-178, test condition 1. At the completion of the test, the lead wires shall show evidence of acceptable solderability. 3.4.5 Vibration Metal cased styles shall be subjected to vibration requirements of EIA Standard RS-186, Metho
35、d 7, Type I test. The capacitors shall be securely fastened by their normal mounting means. Wire-lead capacitors shall be secured 1/2” f 1/8” from the case. During the last 30 minutes of vibration in each direction, a signal of 1 KHz f 200 Hz at a level of 1 f 0.2 volts should be placed across the c
36、apacitor and measured with a suitable alternating-current recording device for the purpose of determining the presence of open circuits, short circuits, or intermittent contacts. 3.5 Dielectric Withstanding Voltage Test (See applicable portions of EL4 Standard RS-186, Method 4). 3.5.1 Terminal to Te
37、rminal Capacitors shall be tested for fifteen seconds by applying between terminals a potential of 200% of rated voltage. EIA 377 70 m 3234b00 OObbAb& O m RS-377 Page 8 3.5.1.1 Test voltages shall be applied through a current limiting resistor of not less than 20 ohms per volt and not more than 1000
38、 ohms per volt. 3.5.1.2 Capacitors shall be discharged through current limiting resistor described in paragraph 3.5.1.1. 3.5.1.3 Capacitors shall not become permanently short circuited or otherwise damaged as a result of application of dielectric test voltages of paragraphs 3.5.1 or 3.5.1.1. 3.5.2 T
39、erminal to Case (where case is not a terminal): 3.5.2.1 For metal cased styles in cylindrical cases 1/2” nominal diameter or less, apply 200% of rated DC voltage for one second. (Dimension does not include insulating sleeve.) For cases larger than 1/2”, apply 400% of the rated DC voltage for one sec
40、ond. 3.5.2.2 For non-metallic cased styles, the test shall be conducted by closely wrapping metal foil around the capacitor case to within 1 /8” of the lead wires or the end of the capacitor body and applying the voltage for the duration specified in 3.5.1. 3.5.3 Insulating Sleeve Test Styles having
41、 a metal case with insulating sleeve on the capacitor body shall have a potential of 2000 VDC applied for one second between the capacitor case and a closely wrapped metal foil around the capacitor sleeve. The metal foil shall be of such dimension as to allow 7/64” to 9/64 insulating surface exposur
42、e on both ends. 3.6 Capacitance 3.6.1 Measurements of capacitance shall be made at or referred to 1000 Hz for ratings not in excess of 10.0 uf. For ratings above 10.0 uf, measurement shall be made at or referred to 60 Hz. 3.6.2 used for capacitance measurements. Equipment having an accuracy of at le
43、ast 10% of the capacitance tolerance shall be 3.6.3 Capacitance measured shall be within capacitance tolerance marking. 3.7 Dissipation Factor 3.7.1 Measurements of dissipation factor shall be made at or referred to 1000 Hz. for ratings not in excess of 10.0 uf. For ratings above 10.0 uf, measuremen
44、t shall be made at or referred to 60 Hz. 3.7.2 Measurement accuracy shall be f 2% of dial reading or .001, whichever is greater.
