SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirements for color and clear coating over aluminum substrates exposed to severe exterior service condition
3、s. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for full or partially painted aluminum wheels which also requires a clear coating. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIAL
4、S Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 COATING Shall be a continuous film, free of blisters, bubbles, foreign material and similar imperfections. 3.5 FILM PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Film Thickness, min (FLTM BI
5、117-01) Primer 20 m Color 18 m Clear (clear coated surfaces only) 51 m Clear (painted and clear coated surfaces) 25 m Primer and color usage will be defined on the Engineering Drawing. 3.5.2 Initial Hardness Production parts shall be sufficiently cured at time of packing to withstand normal handling

7、tch of paint. Paint areas and gloss levels on wheels must match master samples originally approved by Styling. 3.6 THERMAL SHOCK TEST (FLTM BI 107-05) No loss of adhesion or blistering. 3.7 GASOLINE RESISTANCE No dulling, blistering of softening after 1 h immersion in petroleum naphtha (M14J148) at
8、room temperature. 3.8 WEATHERING RESISTANCE, min 400 h (FLTM BO 101-01) No evidence of yellowing, crazing, checking, chalking or other degradation in film appearance after exposure to accelerated weathering. 3.9 SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE, min 240 h (ASTM B 117) After completion of salt spray cycle there
9、 shall be no corrosion spreading beyond damaged area or any other area. Test Method: Subject sample to 1 cycle of gravelometer damage per SAE J400. Expose sample to salt spray. 3.10 WATER RESISTANCE (FLTM BI 104-01 except 38 +/- 1 C) 96 h No blistering, dulling, or loss of adhesion after applying ta
10、pe (ESF-M3G48-A) overcoated or painted areas that have been scribed with an X after exposure to water. 3.11 FILLIFORM RESISTANCE (FLTM BI 124-01) . Clear coated surfaces only 1000 h No more than 1.6 mm corrosion or loss of adhesion from the scribe line. . Painted and clear coated surfaces 800 h No more than 0.80 mm corrosion or loss of adhesion from the scribe line.
