7、ented by Z26.1a, July 3, 1980, andincorporated by reference in FMVSS 205, February 23, 1984.3.3 CONDUCTOR COLORYellow-amber, dark red, or as specified on engineering drawing.3.4 APPEARANCEThe sil ver filled ceramic conductors shall be fired to an adherentcontinuous coating without craters, pinholes,
8、 seediness or abnormalrough ness to the extent required by specification for the visualexamination of appearance items established by product engineering.There sh all be no skips or breaks in the conductors detectable byvisual or electrical me ans which would affect the normal functioningof a heated
9、 glass backlite.3.5 THERMAL CYCLE ADHESIONThere s hall be no loss of adhesion or continuity between theconductors and the glass backlite, when an assembly is subjected to4 thermo cycles. These requirements supplement information appearingon en gineering drawings and engineering specifications forEle
10、ctrically Heated Bac klites containing fused silver filled ceramicconductors.Test Method: The glass backlite shall be placed in a cold box at -40+/- 2 C for a period of 2 h. On removal from the cold box, thebacklite shall be placed immediately in an oven at 82 +/- 2 C for aperiod of 2 h.3.6 ACCELERA
11、TED WEATHERINGThe cer amic coating shall exhibit no more checking and/or surfaceox idation than the approved master sample on file in the BodyMate rials Engineering Department or Test Laboratory. The ceramiccoating shall not exhibit any loss of adhesion (as evidence by anabras ion test conducted und

13、gree ofsi lver migration stain into the glass, after being fired. Suchdiscoloration shall not increase when exposed to the weathering testspecified in para 3.6.3.8 LIGHT TRANSMISSION EFFICIENCYShall not be less than that specified in the appropriate basic glassspecification in the areas of glass not
14、 covered by the conductors.3.9 OPTICAL DISTORTIONShall n ot exceed that specified for backlites in the basic glassspecification. The degree of optical distortion shall be evaluatedby observing the image distortion by viewing an alternating black andwhite striped “zebra“ board through the test sam pl
15、e at varying anglesof inclination.3.10 ABRASION RESISTANCE (Conductors)There shall be no greater than a + 6.5 % S change in the resistancevalue s of the silver filled ceramic conductors. There shall be noloss of adhesion or continuity of the conductors in the abraded area.Test Method: The glass surf
16、ace and silver filled ceramic conductorsshall be subjected to 1000 cycles of abrasion in a Taber abraderusing clean CS10F wheel s under a 100 g load, as described in Section5.18 of ANSI Standard Z 26.1, 1977, January 26, 1977, as supplementedby Z26.1a, July 3, 1980 , and incorporated by reference in
17、 FMVSS 205,February 23, 1984. The resistance to abrasion of the silver filledcer amic conductors shall be determined by measuring the resistancechange of the conductors before and after the abrasion cycles.3.11 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent i
18、nal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials abili
19、ty to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be subm

APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an exp
22、ression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code numbe
23、r, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approval Source list.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe information given below is provided for assistance and clarificationand does not represent requirements to this specification.5.1 CLEANINGGla
24、ss must be free of d irt, oil, fingerprints and any other materialwhich wo uld interfere with the adhesion or functioning of thesilver -ceramic conductors. Highly abrasive materials and/or sharpinstruments that would damage the conductors should be avoided whencleaning the interior surface of the backlite assembly.5.2 FIRING SCHEDULEThe firing cycle normal ly used to fuse the silver-ceramic conductorsshall be equivalent to the production curing and temperature cycle.
