4、e Notice: Corrected values in Section 6.0 table for high boiling impurities; editorial changes. 1.0 SCOPE This specification covers the Companys requirements for fluorocarbon refrigerant for initial filling or recharging of refrigerant systems. These refrigerants will be: dichlorodifluoromethane, CF

5、C-12 (R-12), and 1,1,1,2 - tetrafluoroethane, HFC-134a (R-134a), as defined by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers in ANSI/ASHRAE 34-1992. 2.0 INTRODUCTION Federal Legislation (CFR 40-82) has mandated that the manufacture of chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants

6、(CFCs) in automotive air conditioning systems be halted. The use of the environmentally acceptable HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerant was initiated in Navistar production facilities in January 1993. Further use of the CFC-12 (R-12) refrigerant is restricted to field service applications in product produc

7、ed prior to January 1993. The use of all other ozone depleting chemicals in International products is restricted. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the CEMS B-50 specificat

Refrigerants of different boiling points and chemical compounds must not be mixed with or substituted for one another * See Test Methods 7.0 QUALITY Refrigerants supplied will be certified as meeting the appropriate requirements of ANSI/ARI 700. Vendors will qualify their

15、 products, containers, and packages for use in all States in addition to meeting Interstate Commerce Commission regulations. 8.0 TEST METHODS 8.1 CEMS BT-38, BT-40, BT-41: CEMS BT Methods are available from IHS Global Inc., 15 Inverness Way East, Englewood, CO 80112 (1-800-854-7179). 8.2 BB-F-1421:

16、Federal Specification BB-F-1421 is available from Naval Publications and Forms Center, 5801 Tabor Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19120. 8.3 ASTM E 700: Available from ASTM, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. 8.4 GCA - Gas Chromatography Analysis is an acceptable method by comparison to known standa

17、rds using an acceptable test method such as ICI Method RS/AM/200; available from ICI Americas Inc., Fluoro Chemicals Applications Laboratory, Cel Site, Bldg. 19、ers to Navistar are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. Navistar will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their cert

20、ification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates to their Navistar Corporate Buyer upon request. 9.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples which were appro

21、ved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval. In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering and Purchasin

22、g and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirements of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for chang

23、e. 9.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all

24、 required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using Navistar plant may determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 10.0 DESIGNATION ON ENGINEERING DRAWINGS AND PURCHASE ORDERS Air Conditioner Refrigerant HFC-134a per CEMS B-41 11.0 PACKING AND

25、SHIPPING Packing, shipping and identification will be in accordance with Manufacturing Standard MS-D-13. 11.1 When delivered in bulk quantities, each shipment will be accompanied by a certificate of conformance to the requirements of this specification and will include: name of supplier, batch numbe

26、r, and date of manufacture. 11.2 When packaged for retail sale, the material will be supplied in containers which have been approved by the Parts Marketing Division of the Parts Marketing Operation at Warrenville, Illinois. Small containers packaged for retail sales will have a net packaged weight o

27、f 15 ounces (425 grams) minimum. Identification information and markings will also be in accordance with requirements set forth by Parts Marketing Division. Individual metal containers and cartons for packaging multiple numbers of individual metal containers will both comply with Interstate Commerce

28、 Commission specifications. 11.3 Containers will display the following precautionary note: Do not expose to temperatures above 120F(49C).
