This specification covers polyester textile straps that are used as cab retention straps. This ma

5、terial can be produced using various processes as may be dictated by the particular application and/or design. 2.0 SCOPE This specification covers the general requirements, property and performance requirements, and quality. 2.1 Restricted Chemical Substances Effective January 1, 2007, all product s

6、upplied to the requirements of this specification must comply with the requirements of the MPAPS B-50 specification. 3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS Unless otherwise specified, the latest issue of all referenced standards shall apply. The following standards, specifications and regulations are referenced in

8、S 4.1 Material Requirements 4.1.1 Fabric Shall be made from polyester textile and shall be black or charcoal gray in color. OCTOBER 2014 Page 2 of 5 4.1.2 Mounting Plates/Support Brackets Unless otherwise specified, these parts will be fabricated from Steel, Grade 6, Type 550XF, per MPAPS A-6, Part I. 4.1.2.1 Finish

10、Prior to strap assembly, metal plates/brackets will be painted per MPAPS G-9009, Class II, color NAV0001 Black. 4.2 Property and Performance Requirements 4.2.1 Ultimate Strength 4.2.1.1 Method: Specimens are to be mounted to test apparatus via fixture in such a way to replicate the load vector the s

11、trap will experience on the vehicle. Load specimens in tension at a rate of 0.5 in. per second until specimen fails. 4.2.1.2 Required: A minimum of 3 samples to be tested. Failure is to be indicated by specimen reaching its breaking point. Each strap must withstand the minimum load without failure a

Ultimate Strength minimums Part Number Load (lbs) 6123113C1 6123114C1 18,700 4.2.2 Chemical Resistance 4.2.2.1 Required: A minimum of 5 specimens per chemical required 4.2.2.2 Preparation for test procedure: Specimens are to be immersed into samples of each chemical (T

13、able 2) per the following conditions (5 specimens per chemical): Step 1. Each specimen is to be exposed to one chemical only. Step 2. Each specimen is to remain flat, i.e., not bent or doubled over. Step 3. Each specimen is to be immersed in a manner such that all external surfaces are contacted by

14、the chemical solution. Step 4. Each specimen is to remain immersed for a minimum of 5 minutes and no longer than 6 minutes. Step 5. When specimen is removed from solution, specimen is to be suspended in a vertical orientation to allow excess solution to drain off for approximately 5 minutes. Step 6.

15、 Specimen shall then be placed into an environmental chamber at a temperature of 170 180oF and a relative humidity of 60% - 70% for a period of 12 hours. Step 7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for a total of 5 times for each specimen. Records are to be kept and documentation provided for the following: Sp

OCTOBER 2014 Page 3 of 5 Each specimen is to be clearly marked in such a manner to allow for identification during and following the completion of the t

18、est procedure. The specimens shall not be exposed to any other chemicals, solutions, water, etc., at any time during the procedure. Each specimen should be handled and stored in a manner such that it will not be allowed to come in contact with any other specimen that has been exposed to a different

19、solution. 4.2.2.3 Test Procedure/Method: This test is to be performed within 4 hours of the completion of section 4.2.1.1. Step 1. Specimens are to be mounted to test apparatus via a 3/4” diameter rod placed through each end of the strap. Step 2. The test apparatus is to load specimens in tension at

20、 a rate of 0.5 in. per second until specimen fails. Failure it to be indicated by specimen reaching its breaking point. Step 3. Test documentation to include the following: - Description of test equipment used - Picture of test setup - Specimen ID, time and date of each test - Graphical or tabulated

21、 data with respect to Applied tensile load verses length of each specimen to failure and the description of failure mode. The chemicals in Table 2 are to be used for this test. Substitutes may be used depending on availability. Substitution must be approved by NAVISTAR Materials Engineering departme

22、nt. Content, strength and dilution rates should be matched to correspond to the chemicals listed in Table 2. TABLE 2. 24、 NaCl in water. - - 4.2.3 Seam Strength: ASTM D 1683: The joining seam shall resist slippage of any yarn of thread. There shall be no fractures at the sewline in any material. 4.2.4 Accelerated Weathering per MPAPS GT-31 All materials shall qualify to the following: 4.2.5.1 Xenon Arc: Method B 4.2.5

A minimum rating of 3.0 per AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1. 4.2.6 Mildew Resistance: AATCC Method 30 Shall not exhibit any objec

27、tionable odor or growth of mildew. 4.2.7 Flammability Resistance: Material, parts and/or composites parts supplied to this specification shall conform to and be certified by the supplier to meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 302Flammability of Interior Mat

28、erials, and all requirements of TMS-9544. A report conforming to the requirements of MPAPS P-9543 will be provided. 5.0 QUALITY Material shall be free from objectionable odor, have flexibility necessary for good tailoring and shall be uniform as to quality, weave, color and finish during the entire

29、period in which the fabric is purchased to this specification. 5.1 Qualification Material and processes submitted for approval to this specification shall include the following: 5.1.1 Report: A detailed and signed test report documenting testing to this specification prepared as per MPAPS P-9543. Th

30、e report will include actual test data not merely test summaries. 5.1.2 Failure Modes: Test samples or photographs showing failure modes for each destructive test as necessary to fully describe those failure modes. Descriptions are adequate if the mode is easily understandable (no jargon) and not un

31、expected. Unexpected failure modes shall be described or pictured as completely as possible. 5.1.3 Test Procedure: The procedure used for preparing, curing and assembling materials for test. 5.1.4 Analysis: A detailed analysis of the test results including assumptions made, unexpected results and an

32、 explanation of any non-compliant results. 5.2 Submission The material test report shall be submitted to: Manager of Non-Metallic Materials Materials Engineering and Technology 10400 W. North Avenue Melrose Park, IL 60160 5.3 Quality Control Plan A Quality Control Plan for this product will be estab

33、lished by mutual agreement between NAVISTAR and the supplier. Unless specific exception is noted, the following characteristics, where applicable*, shall be included in the plan as features for management by statistical process control. * Length and Nick Test * Other characteristics for inclusion in

34、 the control plan may be specified on the engineering drawing and/or purchase order. * See Engineering Design Standard A-16. OCTOBER 2014 Page 5 of 5 6.0 SOURCE APPROVAL AND QUALITY CONTROL 6.1 Supplier Requirements All suppliers to NAVISTAR are required to be registered to ISO 9001 Quality System Requirements. NAVIS

36、TAR will also accept TS-16949 registration as long as the supplier can also fulfill all AIAG PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and approval requirements. Suppliers must maintain their certification with an accredited registrar and must furnish copies of registration certificates

37、to their Corporate Buyer upon request. 6.2 Approval Parts supplied against contracts or purchase orders citing this specification shall be equivalent in all respects to those samples that were approved by the purchaser. No changes in formulation or processing practices are permitted without approval

In the event that changes in material, properties, processing practices, construction, color, or labeling of the product are required, the supplier shall notify Materials Engineering and Purchasing and Supplier Development of the proposed change(s). Test data indicating conformance to all requirem

39、ents of this specification, test samples, and new or amended or updated Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS), in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1910 shall be submitted with the request for change. 6.3 Process Control The supplier shall either perform and report results of tests on specific lots

40、of parts produced using ISO 9001 or TS-16949 guidelines, or provide statistical evidence of the lot having been produced in a state of statistical control and with a process capable of providing all required properties. The part supplier and the quality control manager of the using NAVISTAR plant ma

41、y determine testing and reporting requirements on specific products. 7.0 SHIPPING, PACKING AND IDENTIFICATION Loading, packing and identification shall be in accordance with Manufacturing Std.
