3、able for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE. 1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for the test and acceptance of the percussion primed cartridge, 25 millimeter (mm), PGU- 25/U High Explosive Incendiary (HEI), herein referred to as the car

In the event of a conflict betwee

12、n the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. The cartridge shall comply with Drawing 1397AS590 and other requirements specified herein. 3.2 Manufacturing process. When specified in the contract or

13、purchase order (6.2.2), all parts and assemblies shall be manufactured by a process approved by th.e contracting activity. 3.3 First article. When specified, a sample shall be subjected to a first article inspection (see 4.4 and 6.3). 3.4 Projectile extraction. The force required to extract the proj

14、ectile from the case shall be not less than 8,900 newtons (N) and not greater than 18,200 N 3.5 Projectile torque. The projectile shall not rotate in the case when subjected to a minimum torque of 3.4 newton meters (Nm). 3.6 Velocity. The average muzzle velocity of the sample cartridges, conditioned

15、 at 18 to 24 degrees Celsius (OC), shall be 1,100 +25 meters per second (mps). The sample standard deviation shall be not greater than 13 mps. 3.7 Pressure. The average peak chamber pressure of the sample cartridges conditioned at 18“ to 24“C, plus 0.72 standrad deviation of peak chamber pressure, s

16、hall be not greater than 402megapascals (MPa). The average peak chamber pressure of the cartridges, when functioning at any individual temperature from -54 to 62“C, plus five standard deviations of peak chamber pressure, shall be not greater than 496 MPa. Pressure shall be measured with a piezoelect

17、ric type pressure transducer or equal. 3.8 Waterproofness. The average velocity (wet) of projectiles of the sample cartridges, conditioned at 18 to 24OC, shall not vary from the average velocity (dry) by more than 30.5 mps. cartridges shall be not greater than 6.0 milliseconds (ms). The action time

The standard deviation of impacts in both the horizontal and the vertical directions of the sample cartridge projectiles shall be not greater than 0.77 mils when the sample cartridges are conditioned

19、 at 18 to 24C. 3.10 Action time. The action time of the cartridge shall be not greater than 6.0 ms at any cartridge temperature from -54 to 62C. 3.11 Projectile function. The projectile shall function upon impact with a target of 0.040-inch nominal thickness aluminum plate 2024 T3 at O f5 degrees ob

20、liquity, at-a distance of 180 to 220 meters. 3.12 Function and casualty. The cartridge shall function at 20 f10“C without firing defects and casualties. 3.13 Workmanship. All parts and assemblies shall be fabricated, loaded, and assembled in a thorough workmanlike manner. burrs, sharp edges, cracks,

21、 scratches, dents, folds, wrinkles, buckles, dirt, grease, oil, rust and other foreign matter. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any parts, nor shall the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agents. Exterior surface coatings shall be continuous. Light scratches shall not exceed the

22、 defect criteria defined in 6.4.1. All required marking and stamping shall be neat and clearly defined. They shall be free of 4, QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2.11, the contractor is responsible fo

23、r the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves t

24、he right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Except 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements speci- fied herein are classified as follows

27、.4.1 First article sample. Prior to regular production, a sample shall be submitted in accordance with contract requirements and shall consist of 704 cartridges, 125 primed cases, and 125 projectiles (see 6.3). The sample shall be manufactured using similar equipment, processes and procedures as sha

28、ll be used in regular production. with MIL-STD-1168. Identification shall be in accordance 4.4.1.1 Examination and test. The tests of Table I shall be performed on the first article sample in accordance with the test methods prescribed in 4.6. with samples at 20 tlOC. Approval shall be based upon ex

29、amination of the complete sample for visual and dimensional characteristics listed in 4.5.3 and the tests of Table I. The combining of tests shall be permitted pro- vided that the test results are not affected by this procedure. Except as otherwise specified herein, the tests shall be conducted 4.4.

30、1.2 First article sample rejection. Failure of the sample to comply with the requirements of the drawings and other documents specified herein shall result in sample disapproval. Determination as to acceptability of any first article sample shall be based upon results of initial test only and no sec

31、ond tests shall be permitted on that first article. rejection criteria for the first article sample shall be as specified in Table I. Each packed lot shall further- be identified by a national 4.5.2 Quality conformance inspection sampling. A 100-percent examina- tion

37、shall be performed by the contractor for all critical defects. Examination for major and minor defects shall be performed as specified herein. Each part and each assembly found to be defective shall be rejected and removed from the lot for disposition. 4.5.2.1 Sampling and acceptance criteria. The s

38、ampling plans and proce- dures shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105 or MIL-STD-1235 or approved contractor sampling plans. To determine product acceptability, major or minor defects as listed herein may be considered collectively on a class basis or they may be considered individually. However, w

39、here major defects are considered collectively on a class basis, the acceptance number for any individual defect of the class shall be limited by the assigned Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) for individual defect associated with the class (see 4.5.2.1.1). In addition, where three or less defects appe
