12、 Approval of an American National Standard requires verification by the American National Standards Institute, Inc. (ANSI) that the requirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval have been met by the standards developer. An American National Standard implies a consensus of
13、those substantially concerned with its scope and provisions. Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review, substantial agreement has been reached by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more than a simple majority, but n
14、ot necessarily unanimity. Consensus requires that all views and objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be made toward their resolution. The existence of an American National Standard does not in any respect preclude anyone, whether s/he has approved the standard or not, from manufactu

Moreover, no person shall have the right or authority to issue an interpretation of an American National Standard in the name of the American National Standards Institute, Inc. 21、oreword is not part of American National Standard C81.62-2009) In 1990 and 1991 the American National Standards (ANS) for lamp bases, lampholders and gauges were split into three separate standards to line up with the IEC format. ANSI C81.61, ANS for Electric Lamp Bases paralleled IEC 60061-1; ANSI
22、C81.62, ANS for Lampholders for Electric Lamps paralleled IEC 60061-2 and ANSI C81.63, Gauges for Electric Lamp Bases and Lampholders paralleled IEC 60061-3. Also a fourth standard, ANSI C81.64 Guidelines for Electrical Lamp Bases, Lampholders and Gauges was published to parallel IEC 60061-4 in 1993
23、. In 1996, the first IEC data sheets were adopted “as is“ as Nationally Acknowledged International Standards and published as Supplement g to the existing C81.61, 62 and 63 standards. Now many more (if not most) ANSI base standard sheets are IEC sheets adopted as ANSI standards. In 2003, a revision
24、and consolidation of ANSI C81.62 was issued to include, first, a reference to all IEC lampholder standard sheets adopted as ANSI standards. Second, standard sheets for a small number of lampholders used mainly in North America or not harmonized with IEC were included in Part II. Part III contained a
25、ny United States deviations to the IEC standard sheets, which had been adopted as Nationally Acknowledged International Standards as published in IEC 60061-2. Part IV contained an informative annex on first versus third angle projection and related standards. ANSI C81.62-2009 (R2014) 2009 National E

33、 Holders for Fluorescent Lamps 3 General information Two types of lampholder standard sheets are identified in this standard, and both are listed in Table 1, ANSI and IEC Lampholder Standard Sheets. All lampholder types are listed in color to indicate their applications: Blue for automotive and mini
34、ature; green for general lighting service including common Edison screw lampholders; red for fluorescent; and black for miscellaneous. For some lampholders either no international standard exists or the international standard is not acceptable at this time. For such lampholders an ANSI standard shee

37、 The standard sheets for these lampholders are not included, but are identified in Table I-ANSI and IEC Lampholder Standard Sheets under the column heading “IEC 60061-2“. If there are any United States deviations from these IEC standard sheets; the sheet number is marked with a footnote and the devi

They may also be purchased electronically at the following UR
39、L www.ansi.org Or http:/webstore.ansi.org/ansidocstore/default.asp The drawings on the internationally standardized (IEC) sheets are in first angle projection rather than the third angle commonly used in the North American (ANSI) approved standard sheets. Annex A explains the difference between the
40、two systems. In addition, the common American term “Base“ is internationally known as “Cap“. Internationally the decimal point (.) is not used in dimensions, rather a comma (,) separates a decimal number e.g. 4,5 rather than 4.5. However, in the designation of a fit the decimal point is used e.g. GY

This Standard is used in conjunction with ANSI_ANSLG C81.61, Bases (Caps) for Electric Lamps; ANSI_ANSLG C81.63, Gauges for Bases and Lampholders for Electric Lamps and IEC 60061, Lamp caps and holders together with gauges for the control of interchangeability and safety, Part 1: Caps, and Par

In addition the safety requirements for Edison screw lampholders are found in UL 496, Edison-Base Lampholders and the safety requirements for fluorescent lamp bases and starter holders are found in UL 542, Lampholders, Starters, and Starter Holders for Fluorescent Lamps.
