2、 Treated (Composition similar to UNS A97075) RATIONALE AMS4154R revises tensile properties (Table 2, 3.3.2.2) and introduces General Agreement wording related to properties outside the applicable size range (3.3.1, 4.4.1). 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of

3、extruded bars, rods, wire, profiles, and tubing. 1.1.1 This specification covers products up to 5.000 inches (127.00 mm) in nominal diameter or thickness, or wall thickness (See 8.5). 1.2 Application These extrusions have been used typically for parts requiring high strength and whose fabrication do

4、es not usually involve welding or forming, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent supplied herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent r

5、evision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined in accordance with AMS2355. 15、an 1% nor more than 3%, and precipitation heat treated to the T6511 or T6510 temper (See AS1900). Heat treatments shall be performed in accordance with AMS2772. 3.2.1 The T6511 temper shall be supplied unless T6510 is specified. When T6 is specified, the stress relief by stretching may be omitted an

16、d the T6 temper supplied if the stretching is not practical due to the shape of the extrusion. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4154R Page 3 of 6 3.2.2 Extrusions supplied in the T6 or T6511 temper may receive minor straightening, after stretching, of an amount necessary to meet the requirements of 3.5. 3.2.3 E

17、xtrusions supplied in the T6510 temper shall receive no straightening after stretching. 3.2.4 Extrusions shall be supplied with an as-extruded surface finish; light polishing to remove minor surface imperfections is permissible provided such imperfections can be removed within specified dimensional

18、tolerances. 3.3 Properties Extrusions shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS2355 on the mill product. 3.3.1 Mechanical properties requirements for product outside of the range covered by Tables 2 and 3 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 3.3.2

29、sage of the extrusions. 3.4.1 When specified, extrusions shall be subjected to ultrasonic inspection in accordance with ASTM B 594. Extrusions 0.500 to 1.499 inches (12.70 to 38.07 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness, not exceeding 600 pounds (272 kg) per piece, or a 10 to 1 width-to-thickness rati

30、o shall meet ultrasonic class B. Extrusions 1.500 inches (38.10 mm) and over in nominal thickness, not exceeding 600 pounds (272 kg) per piece, or a 10 to 1 width-to-thickness ratio shall meet ultrasonic class A. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2

31、M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of extrusions shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary

32、 to ensure that the extrusions conform to specified requirements. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4154R Page 5 of 6 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), longitudinal tensile properties (3.3.2.1), ultrasonic inspection when specified (3.4.1), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance

33、tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Long-transverse tensile properties (3.3.2.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Test

34、ing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The vendor of extrusions shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the extrusions conform to the chemical composition, ultrasonic inspection when specified, and tolerances and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection

35、lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4154R, size or section identification number, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, product form, producer lot number, and the s

36、ize of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B 666/B 6

37、66M. 5.2 Packaging Extrusions shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B 660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the extrusions to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor sh

38、all mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Extrusions not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES 8.1 A change bar (|) located in t

SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4154R Page 6 of 6 8.2 Hardness should be not lower than 135HB/10/500 or 140HB/10/1000, determined in accordance with ASTM E 10. Hardness has been used to verify that e

41、xtrusions have been properly processed, but an out-of-range hardness number is not always indicative of extrusions with out-of-specification tensile properties. Further analysis, including material composition verification, heat treat process parameter review, and/or tensile property measurement on

42、extrusions with out-of-range hardness, may be necessary. 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented only for infor

43、mation. 8.5 Purchase documents should specify not less than the following: AMS4154R Form and size or section identification of extrusions desired Quantity of extrusions desired Property and acceptance requirements from the cognizant engineering organization applicable to sizes outside the range listed in 1.1.1. Ultrasonic inspection report when specified (See 3.4.1). 8.6 Similar Specifications AMS-QQ-A-200/11, Temper T6, is listed for information only and shall not be construed as an acceptable alternate unless all requirements of this AMS are met.
