SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of plate 0.750 to 1.500 inch, incl ( 19.05 to 38.10 mm, incl) in thickness (see 8.5). 1.2 Application This product has typically been used for parts requiring a high level of mechanical properties and moderate exfo

15、d overaged. 3.2.1 Product shall receive no further straightening operations after stretching. 3.3 Heat Treatment 3.3.1 Solution heat treatment shall be in accordance with AMS2772. The solution heat treat temperature shall be 860 to 900 F (460 to 482 C). 3.3.2 Overaging Heat Treatment Overaging shall
16、 be performed at a specific temperature and time as required to meet requirements of 3.4 (see 8.1). 3.4 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS2355 except as specified in 3.4.4.1. 3.4.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as specified in Table 2.

19、n specified (see 8.5), shall be 88.0 ksi (607 MPa), minimum. 3.4.3 Exfoliation Corrosion Resistance The product shall exhibit exfoliation-corrosion at a T/10 plane not greater than that illustrated by Photograph EB, Figure 2, of ASTM G34. 20、ss Plane strain fracture toughness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E399 and ASTM B645. The test specimens shall meet the following requirements. 3.4.4.1 For the L-T test orientation, and when required by purchaser, T-L test orientation (see 8.5), use a test specimen having a width (W) of 2.0
21、 inches (50.8 mm). For plate 0.750 to 1.000 inches (19.05 to 25.40 mm) in nominal thickness, the test specimen thickness (B) is full plate thickness. For plate 1.001 to 1.500 inches (25.43 to 38.10 mm) in nominal thickness, the test specimen thickness (B) shall be 1.00 inches (25.4 mm) and the speci
22、men is centered at mid-thickness (T/2). 3.4.4.2 A valid KIc meeting the requirements of ASTM E399 or a KQ “usable for lot release” in accordance with ASTM B645 shall meet or exceed the values shown in Table 3. 24、rchaser and producer. 3.5 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.5.1 Each product shall be ultrasonically inspected in accordance with ASTM B594 and
25、 shall meet the following requirements: 3.5.1.1 Products 0.750 to 1.500 inches (19.10 to 38.10 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness shall meet the requirements for ultrasonic class A in accordance with ASTM B594. 3.6 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2
26、(M). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necess
27、ary to ensure that the product conforms to the specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), long-transverse and longitudinal tensile properties (3.4.1), L-T fracture toughness (3.4.4.1), ultrasonic soundness (3.5.1), dimensional tolerances (3.6) and,
28、when required by purchaser, longitudinal compressive yield strength (3.4.2) and T-L fracture toughness (3.4.4.1), are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each lot. k s i i n c h SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4463A Page 5 of 6 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Exfoliation-corrosion resistan
29、ce (3.4.3) shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355 and the following. 4.3.1 Tensile specimens shall be taken at the T/2 location with the axis of specimens in the long
30、-transverse and in the longitudinal direction. 4.4 Reports The vendor of product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition, tolerances and ultrasonic inspection; and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine confor
31、mance to the other acceptance test requirements and to the periodic test, if performed. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number(s), AMS4463A, size and quantity. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to
32、 that effect. 4.4.2 When material produced to this specification, is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables or other exceptions are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS4463A(EXC) because
33、of the following exceptions.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.1.1 When technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.2), the material
34、 shall be marked with AMS4463(EXC). 5.2 Packaging The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe d
35、elivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7.
