5、d 2009-06 Revised 2015-12 Superseding AMS4772J Silver Alloy, Brazing Filler Metal 54Ag 40Cu 5.0Zn 1.0Ni 1325 to 1575 F (718 to 857 C) Solidus-Liquidus Range (UNS P07540) RATIONALE AMS4772K incorporates the industry standard requirements of AWS A5.8 and is a Five Year Review and update of this specif

6、ication. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a silver alloy in the form of wire, rod, sheet, strip, foil, pig, powder, shot, and chips and a viscous mixture (paste) of powder in a suitable binder. 1.2 Application This material has been used typically for joining ferrous metals, particularly

7、austenitic steels and alloys, where high joint strength up to 700 F (371 C) is required and for joining nonferrous metals except those having a base of titanium, aluminum or magnesium, but usage is not limited such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect

8、on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has been cancelled and no superseding document has been specif

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Products shall meet the requirements of AWS A5.8 BAg13 and the following: 3.2 Condition As fabricated unless otherwise specified. 3.2.1 Paste Paste not containing fl

13、ux (3.2.1.1) shall be supplied unless paste containing flux (3.2.1.2) is specified. 3.2.1.1 Paste Without Flux Shall consist of 84 to 90% by weight powder in a suitable binder, unless otherwise specified by purchaser. 3.2.1.2 Paste Containing Flux Shall consist of 55 to 80% by weight powder in a sui

14、table binder and flux combination, unless otherwise specified by purchaser. 3.3 Properties 3.3.1 Paste shall have a shelf life of not less than six months from date of manufacture; not more than thorough mixing shall be required to restore paste for use during that time. 3.3.2 Paste without flux sha

15、ll leave no adherent residue when heated in a protective atmosphere to 1000 F (538 C) or higher. 3.4 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in color, quality, and condition and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the filler metal. Wire,

16、 rod, sheet, strip, and foil shall be clean, sound, bright, and free from slivers, splitting, ragged edges, damaged ends, and other injurious imperfections. Pig, powder, shot, and chips shall have a metallic luster. 3.5 Sizes and Tolerances The product shall be supplied in the following standard siz

20、 325. 3.5.3.2 Powder shall be supplied in accordance with the limits on particle size distribution shown in Table 3 unless some other distribution is specified. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall b

24、e responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to the specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests All technical requirements, e

25、xcept shelf life of paste (3.3.1), are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Shelf life of paste (3.3.1) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing

26、 Shall be in accordance with the following: 4.3.1 Composition For all product except powder, one sample from each lot; for powder, one sample from each furnace charge. 4.3.2 Other Technical Requirements As agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 27、be all product, other than powder and paste, produced from a single furnace charge (or melt) which has been tested and found to conform to the composition of AWS A5.8. 4.3.4 A lot of powder shall be a uniform blend of powder produced from one or more furnace charges, each meeting the requirements of

28、 this specification, and presented for vendors inspection at one time. 4.3.5 A lot of paste shall be that paste produced from a single lot of powder combined with binder from the same manufacturing batch and presented for vendors inspection at one time. 4.4 Reports The vendor of the product shall fu

29、rnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the composition requirements and stating that the product conforms to all other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number or numbers, AMS4772K, form, size, and qua

30、ntity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Not applicable. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification 5.1.1 The product shall be identified as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 5.1.2 Each exterior container or package shall be permanently and legibly marked with not less than the following informati

31、on: SILVER ALLOY, BRAZING FILLER METAL AMS4772K LOT NUMBER _ MANUFACTURERS IDENTIFICATION _ NOMINAL DIMENSIONS _ WEIGHT _ 5.1.2.1 Each container and package of paste shall also be marked with the date of manufacture. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 The product shall be suitably wrapped, sealed, and boxed or oth

32、erwise packaged for protection against injury and contamination during shipment and under normal dry storage conditions. 5.2.2 Packages of filler metal shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the hand

33、ling, packaging, and transportation of the filler metal to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Filler metal not conforming to th

36、nly. 8.2 This filler metal has an approximate solidus temperature of 1325 F (718 C) and an approximate liquidus temperature of 1575 F (857 C). 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and the Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and

37、 properties in SI units and the Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented only for information. 8.5 Procurement documents should specify not less than the following: AMS4772K Form and size of filler metal desired Quantity of filler metal desired Size of containers desired.
