、Designation: D 5047 09Standard Specification forPolyethylene Terephthalate Film and Sheeting1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 5047; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A n

、umber in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements for biaxiallyoriented polyethylene terephthalate film and sheeting in thick-nesses from 1.5 m (0

、.06 mil) to 355 m (14.0 mil). For thisspecification, polyethylene terephthalate film and sheetingshall be defined as the material derived from terephthalic acidand ethylene glycol and shall consist of at least 90 % polyeth-ylene terephthalate homopolymer. This specification does notapply to coated,

、coextruded, tinted, pigmented, or metallizedfilm or sheeting.1.2 Polyethylene terephthalate materials, being thermoplas-tic, are reprocessable and recyclable.2This specification allowsfor the use of those polyethylene terephthalate plastic materi-als, provided that any specific requirements as gover

、ned by theproducer and end user are met.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. The values given in parentheses are for informationonly.NOTE 1There is no known ISO equivalent to this specification.NOTE 2Film is defined as sheeting having a thickness of #250microns (0.010 in.
