、Designation: D 6297 01 (Reapproved 2007)Standard Specification for Asphaltic Plug Joints forBridges1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 6297; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revisi
、on. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers the material, testing and appli-cation requirements for a field molded asphaltic plug joint(APJ) used
、in expansion joint sealing on asphalt concreteoverlay and portland cement concrete decks. The scope of thisspecification is limited to field molded APJ. This moldedelement can consist of multilayer, or single layer, or both, application systems depending upon individual manufacturingrequirements. The
、 details of this specification are limited to thematerials used in the application of APJ. It is recommendedthat a practical means of testing the watertightness aspects ofthe individual systems, either in the field or at the testinglaboratory, be developed. When used on highway bridges, limits on max
、imum joint movements shall be specificallyidentified for each type of APJ. APJs should not be used formovement applications exceeding 6 25 mm from the installa-tion width.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. The values given in parentheses are provided forinformation
、only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Referen

The melter must be supplied with a continu-ous agitation system and calibrated thermometers.7.2 The specified aggregate shall be heated to the manufac-turers prescribed temperature in a manufacturers recom-mended mixer. The temperature of the specified ag
