Significance and Use4.1 This specification covers the minimum electrical prop-erties of dielectric footwear guaranteed by the manufacturerand the detailed procedures by which such properties are to bed
6、etermined. The purchaser may, at his option, perform or haveperformed these tests in order to verify the guarantee. Claimsfor failure to meet the specification are subject to verificationby the manufacturer.4.2 Electrical contact injuries to workers may involve acurrent path through the feet of the
7、worker. The footwearcovered by this specification is dielectrically rated to provideadditional isolation or insulation to the worker.4.3 Work practices vary from user to user depending uponmany factors. These may include, but are not limited to,operating system voltages, construction design, work pr
8、oce-dures and techniques, weather conditions, etc. Therefore,except for the restrictions set forth in this specification becauseof design limitations, the use and maintenance of this equip-ment is beyond the scope of this specification.4.3.1 It is common practice and the responsibility of the userof
9、 this type of protective equipment to prepare completeinstuctions and regulations to govern the correct and safe use ofsuch equipment.5. Classification5.1 Styles of overshoe footwear covered under this specifi-cation shall be designated as follows:5.1.1 Rubbers, designed to be worn over existing foo
10、twearand to cover only the foot of the worker.5.1.2 Boots, designed to be worn over existing footwear andto cover the foot and lower leg of the worker to below the knee.5.1.3 Galoshes, designed to be worn over existing footwearand to cover the foot and lower leg of the worker to below theknee and ha
11、ving fasteners to close the folded front flaps.6. Ordering Information6.1 Orders for footwear under this specification shouldinclude the following information:6.1.1 Style,6.1.2 Size, and6.1.3 Color.7. Manufacture and Marking7.1 The construction shall be such that the footwear has aspecified minimum
12、dielectric strength when tested as specifiedin Test Method F1116.7.2 Each article of footwear shall be marked clearly andpermanently with the name of the manufacturer or supplier,ASTM F1117, size, and ac voltage rating.7.3 The required information shall be on a label which shallbe applied to either

United States18. Electrical Requirements8.1 Each article of overshoe footwear
16、 shall be given a prooftest and shall withstand the 60-Hz ac proof-test voltage (rmsvalue) or the dc proof-test voltage (average value) specified inTest Method F1116.9. Sampling9.1 Each article of footwear in a lot or shipment shall besubject to inspection and test to meet the requirements ofSection
17、s 7, 8.1, and 12.10. Guarantee10.1 The manufacturer or supplier shall replace, withoutcharge to the purchaser, unused footwear which, at any timewithin a period of nine months from date of initial delivery ofshipment to the purchaser or his designee, fail to pass the testsin this specification. This
18、 guarantee will be binding on themanufacturer or supplier only if the footwear have beenproperly stored and have not been subjected to more than anoriginal acceptance test and one retest.10.2 Any acceptance test made by the purchaser, or thepurchasers designee, shall be performed within the first tw
19、omonths of the guarantee period unless otherwise specified.11. Rejection11.1 Individual articles of footwear shall be rejected if theyfail to meet the requirements of Sections 7, 8.1, and 12.11.2 The entire lot or shipment of footwear shall be rejectedif 5 % or more, but not less than two articles o
20、f footwear, in alot or shipment fail to meet the requirements of 8.1.11.3 The testing shall be terminated and the manufacturer orsupplier notified if, during the course of testing, the footwear ina lot or shipment fail to meet the requirements of 8.1 asdetermined by the rejection criteria of 11.2. T
21、he manufactureror supplier may in such a case require the purchaser to submitproof that the test procedure and equipment conform to thisspecification. When such proof has been furnished, the manu-facturer or supplier may request that his representative witnessthe testing of additional footwear from
22、the shipment.11.4 All rejected material shall be returned as directed bythe manufacturer, at his or the suppliers request, without beingdefaced by rubber stamp or other permanent marking.However, those articles of footwear punctured when tested inaccordance with 8.1 shall be stamped, punched, or cut
23、 prior tobeing returned to the supplier to indicate that they lack therequired dielectric property.12. Packaging and Package Marking12.1 Each pair of footwear shall be packed in an individualcontainer of sufficient strength to properly protect the footwearfrom damage in transit. The end of the conta
24、iner shall bemarked with the name of the manufacturer or supplier, style,size, and color.13.
