5、art of BS 6721 has been prepared under the direction of the Non-ferrous Metals Standards Committee. BS 6721 is a multi-part standard and describes methods of sampling and analysis for copper and copper alloys. It is intended that Parts 1 to 3 of BS 6721 will describe methods of sampling copper and c
6、opper alloys in various forms. The remaining Parts will give methods for the determination of individual elements in copper and copper alloys. This Part of BS 6721 is identical with IS0 4749-1984 Copper alloys - Determination of lead content - Flame atomic absorption spectrometric method, published
7、by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Terminology and conventions. The text of the international standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in Britis

Method for determination of lead in copper alloys by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry 1 Scope and field of application This International Standard specifies a flame atomic absorption spectrometric method for the determination of the lead content of all types of copper alloys listed in Int
13、ernational Standards. The method is applicable to the determination of lead as alloy- ing element or impurity between 0,Ol and 5.0 % rnlrnl. By appropriate modification of sample mass, the lower limit may be extended to 0,002 % (rnlrn). 2 Principle Dissolution of a test portion in fluoroboric-nitric
14、 acid mixture. Aspiration of the test solution into an air-acetylene flame, and determination of the lead content by spectrometric measure- ment of the absorption of the 217,O nm line emitted by a hollow-cathode lead lamp. O 3 Reagents During the analysis, use only reagents of recognized analytical
15、grade and only distilled water or water of equivalent purity. 3.1 Fluoroboric-nitric acid, attack reagent. Mix together 300 ml of boric acid, 40 g/l solution, 30 ml of the hydrofluoric acid, 40 % (V/ VI solution, 500 ml of the nitric acid, Q 1,N g/ml, and 150 ml of water. 3.2 Nitric acid, 1 + 1. Dil
