This Commercial

2、 Item Description covers a portable ultraviolet light, suitable for veterinary use in inspecting food stores for possible contamination or spoilage. Salient characteristics: This light and carrying case shall be suitable for veterinary use in inspecting food stores for possible contamination or spoi

3、lage. The light shall be one integral self contained unit easily held in one hand. This light shall include, but not be limited to, lamp housing, lamp bulb, reflector, filter, filter frame, ballast, on/off switch, 3 conductor cord with hospital grade plug, provisions for battery operation, and a car

4、rying case. The lamp housing shall be made of high impact material which will withstand severe knocks. The housing shall withstand 3 drops of 4 feet each onto a concrete floor at any angle without impairing its operating capability or its appearance. Bulb and filter may be removed for this test. The

5、 light shall emit long wavelength ultraviolet with peak intensity in the range of 365 nanometers. The light intensity shall be at least 200 microwatts/square centimeter when measured 6 inches from the source. At 6 inches from the light, the usable viewing area shall be 3 inches by 1-1/2 inches minim

7、b shall have a rated life of 6000 hours. If a ballast is used, it shall be vacuum impregnated. A carrying case shall be provided which shall be suitable for containing the light, all parts and accessories, the two 45 volts batteries and the wiring. This case shall provide complete portability and pr

8、otection. The case shall be formed steel, 22-gauge metal (U.S. standard gauge), with hinged lid, luggage-type latch, and painted in a green metallic finish. The case shall allow daylight examination of specimen by providing a lamp holder to position the lamp to shine directly into the chamber; and b

9、y providing two hinged access doors, one on one end and the other on an adjacent side. Either of these doors will allow manipulation of a specimen for daylight viewing inside the case under the positioned light. Inside the case an electrical receptacle for plugging the primary cord plug shall be pro

10、vided to allow operation of the light from two 45 volt batteries through the special battery adapter circuitry provided. The light shall operate on both 110 volt, 50-60 cycle AC as well as on Direct Current of two 45 volt “B“ batteries. A light cord shall be provided, 6 feet to 6-1/2 feet long, term

12、 of the primary cord, shall be 11 inches in length, 2 inches in width, and 2-1/2 inches in depth. The total weight of the ultraviolet lamp shall not exceed 1.35 pounds. Dimensions of the carrying case shall not exceed 13 inches by 9-1/2 inches by 6 inches. The total weight of the carrying case conta

13、ining light, all parts and accessories, wiring, not including the batteries, shall not exceed 8.5 pounds. The light shall be furnished without the batteries but *shall be suitable in all respects for use with the batteries. (See Note 2) Spare Parts. In addition to the lamp furnished in the light, on

14、e additional lamp shall be furnished as a spare part. Workmanship. The light and light system shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability. Unit. Each (EA). One light, together with all accessories and parts, as specified, constitutes one unit. The carryi

15、ng case containing the unit shall be packaged in a suitable carton which shall protect contents from damage during shipment and handling. Quality Assurance Provisions. Responsibilitv for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the p

16、erformance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facirli-ties suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the c

19、ontract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. Inspection. Inspection, as used herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determina

20、tion by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. Samplinq for examination. Sampling for examination shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 1 (percent defective) and an inspection level of II. The unit of product for exami

21、nation purposes shall be one light and light system. Samplinq for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 1 (percent defective) and an inspection level of II. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one light and

22、 light system. Tests. Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. Where feasible, the same sample shall be used for the determination of two or more test characteristics. A drop test shall be performed on both the light alone and the entire light system in the c

23、ase. The lamp housing without bulb and filter shall withstand 3 drops of 4 feet, onto a concrete floor, at any angle, without breaking or impairing its operation. Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound

24、 units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in

The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description. The government reserves the right to require proof that the product mee

27、ts these salient characteristics prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. Reuulatorv requirements. Federal Food, Druq and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administr

28、ation to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall

29、comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of all other applicable Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations. Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered material in accordance with Federal Acq

30、uisition Regulation Subpart 23.4 to the maximum extent practical. Preservation, packauinu, P ackinu, labelinu, and markinq. Unless otherwise specified, preservation, packaging, and packing shall be to a degree of protection to preclude damage to containers and/or contents thereof under normal shippi

31、ng conditions, handling, etc., involving shipment from the supply source to the receiving activity, plus reshipment from receiving activity, and shall conform to applicable carriers rules and regulations.
