This European Standard is a reference document for a standardized European size designation system for different types of garment. 3 EN 13402-212002 (E) 1 Scope This European Standard specifies primary and secondary dimensions for s
17、pecified types of garments to be used in combination with EN 13402-1. The primary aim of this European Standard is the establishment of a size designation system that can be used by manufacturers and retailers to indicate to consumers (in a simple, direct and meaningful manner) the body dimensions o
18、f the person that the garment is intended to fit. Provided the size of the persons body (as indicated by the specified dimensions) has been determined, in accordance with EN 13402-1 this designation system will facilitate the choice of garments that fit. The size designation system is based on body
19、and not on garment measurements. Choice of garment measurements is normally determined by the designer and the manufacturer who will make appropriate allowances to accommodate the type, position of wear, style, cut and fashion elements of the garment. 2 Normative references This European Standard in

22、 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this European Standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 primary dimension those body measurement, in centimetres, that shall be used to designate the size of a garment for the consumer EN 13402-11 3.2 secondary dimension those body measurem
23、ent, in centimetres - or in the case of pantyhose, body mass (kg) -that may additionally be used to designate the size of a garment for the consumer EN 13402-11 3.3 cup size the difference between the underbust girth and the bust girth 4 Definition of primary and secondary dimensions in garments Pri
24、mary and secondary dimensions are defined as shown in Table 1. These body measurements provide the basis for the designation of clothing sizes, independently from the product itself, for garment types as diverse as jackets, skirts, underwear, corsetry and head wear. Body measurements are listed sepa
25、rately for mens, womens, boys and girls clothing. For infants, only the body height is used as primary dimension, see EN 13402-1:2001, 3.13. The primary dimension will constitute the basic size designation system. 4 EN 13402-212002 (E) The heights and girths are measured in accordance with EN 13402-
