、010, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 14 of 16 APPENDIX 3 TUV Toxproof requirement for requirements for Interior Space: The interior air testing is conducted in a new car with an age, which is representative for the time between manufacturing and sales, max. 4 weeks. Because of the known VOC emiss

、ion behavior of materials these measurements lead to maximum concentrations which decay with increasing time after the production date. The objective is to determine the indoor air concentration of volatile organic compounds under the typical conditions of use. The typical temperature in a car is as

、sumed to be 21 C. In order to maintain this temperature at higher outdoor temperatures an integrated air conditioning is recommended Before the measurement the car is conditioned in a climatic chamber at 21 +/- 2 C for at least 8 h and thoroughly aerated. A sampling tube is installed at the drivers

、nose position and all windows and doors are closed. During the interior air sampling a temperature of 21 +/- 2 C is maintained. The sampling time is 30 minutes. The measurement takes place without any air exchange. By this procedure the mean VOC concentration is determined a passenger is exposed to

、in a closed car during the first 30 min after entering the car. According to practical observations after 30 min passengers would at least partly open the windows or switch on the fan in order to breathe fresh air and to reduce the carbon dioxide concentration in the interior air The conditioning an

、d sampling temperatures against time are monitored by a data logger. The air in the test chamber outside the car is measured simultaneously in order to determine the blank values of VOC components. A second measurement is done after driving the car for 30 min in order to detect volatile organic comp

、ounds which might be released by the warm motor and contaminate the interior air through leaks in gaskets and seals. In connection with both measurements the odor of the interior air is documented. Only a weak product typical odor is tolerated. All concentrations of compounds in the interior air cor

、e level of good air quality defined by EU, WHO and AAF during the whole lifetime of the filter. This can be solved by using for instance an advanced Gas- and Particle filter system. The air quality levels listed below are to be tested during a minimum of 15 minutes driving in all normal conditions,

、which is city driving, highway/autobahn driving, traffic jam, and rural driving in normal climate conditions. If during the testing the outside pollutant level is untypical the measured in-cabin concentration may be scaled by a factor given by the ratio of measured outside concentration and typical
