5、10:59:38ForewordIn 1988, the International Maritime Organization printed a publication entitled Performance Standards for Navigational Equipment. Over the years, many additional performance standards for both radiocommunications and navigational equipment have been adopted, and in some cases existin

6、g ones have been extensively revised and even superseded. This was necessary because the available technology for radiocommunications and navigational equipment has been evolving very rapidly, and consequently, both Governments and industry needed to put new or revised standards into practice as soo

7、n as possible. The nineteenth IMO Assembly, by resolution A.825(19), Procedure for adoption and amendment of performance standards for radio and navigational equipment, which has been revoked by resolution A.886(21), resolved that the function of adopting performance standards and technical specific

8、ations, as well as amendments thereto, shall be performed by the Maritime Safety Committee on behalf of the Organization. The present publication incorporates all updated performance standards for radiocommunications and navigational equipment and all amendments thereto adopted up to December 2010.(
