1、 MIL-C-22230B (2) m 9999906 1998958 T34 INCH POUND MIL-C-22230B(SH) AMENDMENT 2 24 March 1995 SUPERSEDING AMENDMENT 1 20 November 1992 MIL-C-22230B(SH) MILITARY SPECIFICATION CLEANING COMPOUND, FUEL TANK AND BILGE This amendment forms a part of MIL-C-22230B(SH), dated 19 October 1987, and is approve

2、d for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Department of the Navy, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department Defense. PAGE 2 2.1.1. Under, “ STANDARDS,FEDERAL,FED-STD-313 “ Delete and substitute: “Materials safety Data, Transportation Data and Disposal for Hazardous

3、 Materials Furnished to Government Activities“ PAGE 3 3.1.1: Delete and substitute: I 3.1.1 Toxic products. The material shall have no effect on the health of personnel when used for its intended purpose. Conformance shall be determined by a Health Hazard Risk Assessment (“RA) in accordance with 4.6

4、 Products meeting this requirement will be issued with a letter of approval by the Naval Sea Systems Command. Letters of approval shall apply solely to those products specifically evaluated for toxicity. Formulation changes in the product shall require a re-evaluation of the product for toxicity an

5、d a new letter of approval. in effect for a maximum of three years, after which, reissue may be requested. Manufacturers shall provide a copy of the approval letter applicable to offered products to the contracting activity before the product will be accepted(see 6.2). Questions pertaining to health

The residual oil shall be extracted from the pint jar surfaces and the test strips using 25 ml of trisolvent. acetone, methanol and toluene. so

The manufacturer shall provide sufficient information to permit a toxicological evaluation of his product to the Navy Environmental Health Center (NEHC), accompanied w

10、ith a request to perform a Health Hazard Risk Assessment(HHRA). As a minimum, the information shall include name, formula and appropriate percentage by weight of each ingredient in the product; identification of its pyrolysis products;and any other such information as may be needed to permit accurat

11、e appraisal of any toxicity problem associated with the handling, storage, application, use,removal,disposal or combustion of the product. The request for a HHRA shall also include a product material safety data sheet and a copy of the product label. information requested by NEHC to perform their ev

12、aluation. Proprietary information, which is clearly marked as such, will be held in strictest confidence by NEHC. The request for a HHRA shall be addressed to the Commanding Officer, Navy Environmental Health Center, 2510 Walmer Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia 23513-2617, Attention: Mr. J.R.Craw1, C.I.H./

13、NEHC-34. The manufacturer shall also send a copy of the letter of request for HHRA to the Chief , Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (MED-O3B4), Washington DC 20372-5120. Upon receipt of the HHRA performed by NEHC, the manufacturer shall send a copy to the Naval Sea Systems Command, Code 514, Washington

14、 Dc 20362-5101, with a request for approval.
