1、ML“86WB 26 JULY 1965 Superseding 19 July 1957 MILM-8609A (Am) KILITARY SPECIFICATION NOTORS, DIRECT-CURRENT, 28-VOLT SYSTEM, AIRCRAFT, GENEBAL SPECTFICATION .FOR This specification is mandatory for useby all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1, SCOPE 1.1 Scope.- This specificati

2、on covers the general requirements for two classes of aircraft electric motors and, together with a detail Specification or standard con- taining equivalent information as described in 3.kr2, forms the complete apecifieation for procurement of aircraft electric motors operable from 28V dc eystems, 1

3、.2 Classification,- Motors shall be of the following clames, as specified (see 6,2): Class A - Motors that are operable under temperature-altitude conditions of curve II of MS33543. Class B - Motors that are operable under temperature-altitude conditions of curve I of YS33543. 2, APPLICABLE DOCWNTS

10、required by suppliers-in connection with specific procurement functions should be obtained from the procuring activity or as directed by the contracting officer. ) 2.2 Other publications. - The following document forms a part of this specifica- tion to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise i

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General.- The requirements specified in the detail specification or atand- ard are applicable as detail requirements of this specification. 2 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.9 Materials.- Materials used in the

13、 manufacture of motors shall be of high quaUty, suitable for the purpose intended, and shall conform to applicable Government specifications wherever practicable. The requirements of this paragraph will be con- sidered as having been met if the preproduction tests have been passed. 3.3.1 Selection s

14、f materials.- Specifications and standards for all materials, parts, and Government certification and approval of processes and equipment, which are not specifically designated herein and which are necessary for the execution of this specification, shall be selected in accordance with MIESTD”l43, ex

15、cept es provided in the following paragraph. 3.3.1.1 Standard parts.- Military Standard (M) parts shall be used wherever they are suitable for the purpose, and shall be identified on- the drawing by their part numbers. Commercial utility parts such as screws, bolts, nuts, and cotter pins may be used

16、, provided they possess suitable properties and are replaceable by the M3 parts without alteration, and provided the corresponding standard part numbers are referenced in the parts list and, if practicable, on the contractors draws. In the event there is no suitable corresponding standard part in ef

17、fect on date of invitation for bids, commercial parts may be used provided they conform to all require- ments of this specification. 3.3.2 Corrosion resistance.- Materials shall e corrosion resistank or suitably processed to resist corrosion. 3.3.3 Dissimilar metals.- Unless suitably protected, metl

18、s such as brass, copper, or steel shall not be used in intimalie contact with magnesium, aluminup, or their alloys. When protection is used it shall be such type that a low impedance path is affered to radio-frequency currents, Dissimilar metals are defined in MS33586, 3.4 Design and construction,-

19、3.4.1 Duty cycle. - The duty cycle shall be specified in the detail specifica- tion. 3.4.2 Detail requirements.- The detail requirements shall be specified in the detail specification or standard and shall include all the applicable data shown in 6.5. 3.4.3 Simplification.- Simplicity of design, res

20、ulting from use of the same part for as mn, applications as possible in a given motor and in motors of different ratings,. 3s hgghly d6sfrble. 3.4.4 Mounting flange.- The mounting flange, when required, and clearance for mounting studs shall be in accordance with the applicable motor standard or det

21、ail specification. 22、ation.- Normally, lubrioation shall not be allowed during the servicre life of the motori When lubrication ia allowed during the service life by the standard or detail specification, it shall be .in accordance with MILL-6880, 3.4.7 Electrical connections.- External termination of the notor wiring sh

23、all be in aceordance with MIL-STD-195, desa otherwise ahown on the applicable standard or detail specification. The motor mounting provisions shall provide a low-impedance path for radio Anterference currents, but shall not be used to complete motor electri- cal. circuits in lieu of a lead, Wherever

24、 practicable, positive connections which do not depend upon insulation in compression shall be used. Suitable shielding shall be provided for remote filtering if specified in the detail specification. . 3.4.8 Armature.- Motors shall be so constructed that the armate is readily removed without the us

25、e of special tools. 3.b.9 Brushes.- 3.4.9.1 Brush life.- The usefullife of brushes at specified altitudes shall be as follows: Class A motor: 1,OOO hours Sea level to 35,000 feet 500 hours 35,000 to 50,000 feet Class B motors: (a) Intermittent duty motor: 1,ooO hours Sea level to 35,000 feet 500 hou

26、rs 35,000 to 65,000 feet 500 hours Sea level to 65,000 feet (b) Continuous duty motor: 3.4.9.2 Brush accessibility.- Brmshes shall be accessible for replacement when brush access covers . are removed. It shall be possible to change the brushes with- out the aid of special tools. 3 ,ard. The protecti

27、ve system must not be automatically reset and both motor and protector system are considered expended after one operation. 3.4.13.1.3 Hethod III.- Protection shall be provided to permit average rated torque capability under all operable environmental power and load conditions and attain a substantia

28、l portion of the rated life of the motor under overload conditions which cause cycling of the thermal protedtive device, The motor and protector shall provide a minimum of 25 hours of intermittent or continuous locked rotor protection at rated voltage.-. 3.b.13.2 Thermal protection tm.- 3.4.13.2.1 D

29、irect acting.- A protector within or on the motor enclosure shall interrupt the motor power supply and shall be of sufficient rating to interrupt the maximum locked-rotor current and perform in aocordanoe with the appropriate thermal protection method specified herein (see 3.Jhen exposed to fungus p

(g) Input power: The input power shall be in accordance wi$h MIL-STD-7. 3.5 Interchangeability.- All parts having the same manufacturers part number shall be directly and completely interchangeable with respect to installat

31、ion and performance. Changes in manufacturers part numbers shall be governed by the drawing number requirements of MILD-.70327. 3.6 Finish.- 36. I Anodizing,- When used, . Washers and aotter pins, where used, shall be assenibled in a manner which prevents rotation of washers and movement of cotter pins under conditions of vibration, 3#.9 Perfomrice.- The motor shall aatfefy any natural combination of the tests specified in

34、 section 4, 3.10 Markin%. - 3,lQ.l Terahalse- Marking8 of terminals shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-195 unless otherwise shown by the applloable motor standard or detail specification. Idhen deviations from MIL-STPl95 exist, a diagram or ohart of the terminals shall be affixed to the motor. 3.10

35、.2 Rotation marking.- The direction of rotation of the output shaft shall be plainly and permanently indicated by an arrow for both unidirectional and revers- ible motors. 3.lQ.3 Internal capacitors.- The presence of internal capacitors which may be damaged by dielectric strength test of the motor s

36、hall be plainly and permanently indioated on the surface of the motor near the nameplate. 3.11 Identification of product.- Equipment, assemblies, and parts shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-130. The identification data applied to the motor shall. be as follows: Nomnclatm (as shown on applic

Particular attention ahall be give

40、n to neatness and thoroughness of soldering, wiping, impregnation of coils, marking of parts, plating, lacquering, riveting, clearance between soldered connections, removal of burrs and sharp edges, and ruggedness. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.2 Classification of inspections.- The examination a

41、nd testing of motors shall be. classified as: (a) Preproduction inspec tion (4.3 1 (b) Quality conformance inspection (4.4) 4.3 Preproduction inspection.- 4.3.1 SamrAina instructions,- The preproduction samples shall consist of four motors representative of production motors, .Each mlrbd accompded.b

42、y a set of spare brushes. 4.3.2 Tests.- The preproduction tests shall consist of all the tests specified under 4.6, with the exception of the load test specified in 4.6,3.
