Foreword The purpose of this Standard is to provide engineering guidelines to magnet wire manufacturers in the design and construction characteristics of returnable magnet wire packaging

15、 products. The information contained herein has been thoroughly reviewed by all suppliers of magnet wire packaging products known to be in production at the time of publication. 20、l Manufacturers Association. Section 1 GENERAL 1.1 SCOPE This Standard applies to products intended exclusively for the packaging/storage of magnet wire products. It provides guidelines for the minimum information required for the design and production of a returnable pallet generally made of a synt

21、hetic material, intended to accommodate primarily 24 x 6 reels. 1.2 REFERENCES In this publication, reference is made to the following publications. 22、A MW 1000-2003 Magnet Wire 1.3 DEFINITIONS reel: A cylindrical device with a top and bottom flange extending beyond the cylinder surface, for the purpose of holding wire for packaging, transportation, and de-reeling. pallet: The lower portion of the magnet wire packaging system, used for securing, o

23、r nesting, the bottom sides of magnet wire reels (see Figure 1-1). Section 2 DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS FOR ACCOMMODATING 24 X 6 REELS 2.1 PACKAGING SYSTEM The mag

24、net wire packaging system shall be designed to be returnable and reusable, capable of securing reels placed on end, flange to flange on the pallet. 2.2 PALLETS 2.2.1 General The design of a single row system shall accommodate one to four reels having dimensions in accordance with NEMA MW 1000. A sys

25、tem accommodating a single layer of pallets arranged in a double row shall accommodate five to eight reels. 2.2.2 Dimensions The length and width shall be sufficient for compliance with 2.2.1. The height shall be nominally 6.25 in. 2.2.3 Configuration The surface where reels rest shall have a design

26、 that provides a positive locating system that limits movement of the reels during shipment, shall be designed to allow for secure stacking of pallets among themselves, and shall include a means of guiding banding straps. 2.2.4 Handling Pallets shall be capable of two-way entry by mechanized pallet

27、handling equipment, parallel with the flange orientation. 2.3 STRENGTH 2.3.1 Load 2.3.1.1 Single Row Loading Pallets supporting single row loading shall be capable of supporting a static load not less than 1,500 lb. 2.3.1.2 Double Row Loading Pallets supporting a single layer of reels in a double-ro

28、w arrangement shall be capable of supporting a static load not less than 2,500 lb. Pallets supporting multiple layers of reels in a double-row arrangement shall be capable of supporting a stacked static load of 15,000 lb. 2.3.2 Storage The design shall allow for pallets to be stored in a rack struct

Section 3 MATERIALS 3.1 GENERAL Plastic materials have been generally planned as the systems material, however materi

30、als used for magnet wire packaging systems shall not be limited to plastics. 3.2 CHARACTERISTICS The pallet material shall be recyclable and present no potential material conflict with magnet wire reels, wire, or wire insulation. Section 4 MARKING 4.1 MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION The pallet shall be coded with the chasing arrows generally used as a code for signifying that a material is recyclable, as well as the recycling material number code of 1 through 7, and the material letters to indicate the material typ

32、e (e.g. PS, for polystyrene). 4.2 MANUFACTURER IDENTIFICATION All parts of a magnet wire packaging system shall have available space for either the individual wire manufacturers company logo or other form of identification such as a color strip and/or mark of some distinctive nature. Two spaces shall be provided (one on each of two opposing sides) for bar code labeling approximately 2 x 3 in. in size.
