ESSENTIAL PROJECT SPECIFICATION CLAUSES Certain subclauses of the specifications refer

Set out as indicated below suitable clauses in Portion 2 of the project specification to provide the essential information. a) (Subclause 3.1) Where the material likely to be most readily available for use as selected granular materia

9、 trench excavation, insert a clause such as that given in 3.2.1.2 below and state which material (and its source) is to be selected for the granular bedding cradle and for the selected fill blanket. (See also Subclause 1.3.3 of Section LB of Part 3 of the code.) c) (Subclause 5.4) Specify where pipe

Except where such data have been given in the schedule or in the tender drawings, set out suitable clauses covering items such as the following in Portion 2 of the project specification: a) (Subclause 3.1) If it is desired to specify grading limits for the selected granular material that ar

12、e different from those specified in Subclause 3.1 of SABS 1200 LB. state the acceptable limits. b) (Subclause 3.3) State whether the pipeline is regarded as flexible and, when relevant, state the class of bedding to be used. ADDITIONAL CLAUSES GENERAL. Where it is necessary to amplify or otherwise v

NORMAL PROJECTS NOT

14、E: To meet requirements imposed by various norms of economic development, projects are classified as normal, prestige, subeconomic, and labour-based projects (see Clause 4 of Section 0 of Part 3 of the code) . Source of Beddipg Materials General. Wherever practicable, indicate, in a clause such as t

15、he following, the source of acceptable bedding materials (See also Subclauses 1.3.3.1 - 1.3.3.3 of Section LB of Part 3 of the code.): PSLB 1.1 Bedding materials (Subclause 3.4). Suitable selected bedding material will generally be available from trench excavations along the route. Additional materi

Where the engineer requires that the contractor use methods of excavation that enable him to select material that is suitable for bedding from m

Notwithstanding the requirements of Subclause 3.7 of SABS 1200 DB) and Subclaus

18、e 3.4.1 of SABS 1200 LB regarding the use of selective methods of excavating, the Contractor shall use selective methods of excavating and shall provide and use plant that will enable him to avoid burying or contaminating material that is suitable and is required for bedding. 19、terials for Department of Environment Affairs and Fisheries projects. A clause such as the following may be required in a contract for the Department of Environment Affairs and Fisheries : PSLB 1.3 Measurement and payment for provision of bedding (Subclause 8.2). The provisions of Subclauses 8.2.1 a

20、nd 8.2.2 shall not apply to this contract. Separate items have been scheduled for selected granular material and selected fill material supplied from any source. l) arthworks (pipe trenches). SABS 0120 : Part 2 Section LB-1983 Bedding (pipes) The rate shall cover the cost of acquiring such bedding m

21、aterials (each of which shall comply with the applicable requirements of SABS 1200 LB), of delivering them to points alongside the trench so spaced as to suit the Contractors method of working, and of disposing of any material displaced by the importation. The rate shall apply regardless of whether

22、the Contractor acquires either of the bedding materials by selection from excavated material alongside the trench or from any other source within a freehaul distance of 5 km from the point of pipelaying. Any haulage distance in excess of the freehaul distance of 5 km shall, unless prior approval has

23、 been obtained, be regarded as freehaul. (See also Sections LB of Part 3 and Part 5 of the code.) NOTE: Where a clause such as PSLB 1,3 above covers a freehaul distance greater than 5 km, ensure that the schedule includes an item for payment for overhaul and that the quantity scheduled is realistic.

24、 The cost that the contractor will incur if he exceeds the freehaul distance without prior approval should discourage him from importing materials from distant points in cases where the cost of such importation has not been disclosed to and approved by the employer before the contract is awarded. 3.

25、2.2 Class of Bedding (Subclause 5.1). Where most of the pipeline is to be laid in bedding of one class and certain sections in bedding of one or more other classes, draw attention to the location and class of each other class of bedding required. 3.2.3 Pipe Bedding : Class A Reinforced (Subclause 5.

26、2.1). When it is necessary to increase the bedding factor (see Subclause 2.1.4 of Section LB of Part 3 of the code) of a portion of a pipeline above 3 by reinforcing the concrete bed, consider a clause such as the following (see also Subclause 2.2.1.1 of Section LB of Part 3 of the code): PSLB 1.4 R

27、einforced bedding. The Contractors attention is drawn to the high load conditions applicable to the pipeline between and . . Between these points the concrete bedding shown on Drawing . shall be strengthened with reinforcing steel as ordered. Such steel will be measured and paid for separately under

28、 the scheduled items for reinforcement. 3.2.4 Concretes (Subclause 5.4). Where it is required that a pipeline (other than a sewer covered by SABS 1200 LD) be encased in concrete, frame a PSLB clause using Subclause 5.7 of sABS 1200 =D*), suitably modified. 3.3 PRESTIGE PROJECTS. Where SABS 1200 LB i

29、s not suitable for a prestige project, include an appropriate specification in the contract. 3.4 SUBECONOMIC PROJECTS. Until a suitable standardized specification for subeconomic projects has been published, state which requirements of SABS 1200 LB will not be applicable to the contract. Pay particu

30、lar attention to the requirements dealing with selected granular material (see also Subclause 1.3.3.3 of Section LB of Part 3 of the code in which acceptable alternative materials are suggested for a case where loads on a pipeline are light). 3.5 LABOUR-BASED PROJECTS. Either include SABS 1200 LB in the contract and state which requirements of SABS 1200 LB will not be applicable, or insert appropriate clauses (based on SABS 1200 LB) in Portion 2 of the project specification. -V- 2) Sewers. sabs pta
