3、ers welded wire mesh fence fabricproduced from steel wire or metallic-coated steel wire. Themetallic-coated fabric may be polymer coated after fabrication.1.2 Welded wire mesh fence fabric is produced in fourtypes, based on the kind of coating, as described in Section 4.1.3 This specification is app

4、licable to orders in eitherinch-pound units or SI units. Values stated in either inch-poundor SI units are to be regarded separately as the standard. Withinthe text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values in thetwo systems are not exact equivalents; therefore, each systemshall be used indepe

5、ndent of the other, without combiningvalues in any way.1.4 This specification references notes and footnotes, whichprovide explanatory material. Classification4.1 Welded wire mesh fence fabric is classified in accor-dance with coating as follows:4.1.1 Type 1, consists of welded wire fabric made from wirewhich is zinc-coated, as per Specification A 641/A 641MClass 3 minimum, b

17、o fabric, known aszinc 5 % aluminum mischmetal alloy-coated steel beforewelding.4.1.4 Type 4, consists of welded wire fabric made from wirewhich is zinc-coated, in accordance with Specification A 641/A 641M, Class 1 minimum, before being welded into fabric,known as galvanized before welding, and sub

18、sequently poly-mer coated.4.1.5 In agreement between buyer and supplier Type 1, 2 or3 can be used to produce polymer coated welded wire fabric.5. Ordering Information5.1 Orders for material purchased under this specificationshall include the following information:5.1.1 Quantity (number of units of r

19、olls or panels)5.1.2 Mesh description: wire spacing and size (gage)5.1.3 Panel (height by length) or Roll (height by length)5.1.4 Type of coating (Section 4), including the specific typeto be furnished.5.1.5 ASTM designation and year of issue.5.1.6 Any special requirements (see Section 8).5.1.7 Cert

21、n F 2453. Thevertical mesh opening (height measured from top to bottom) is designatedfirst followed by the horizontal mesh opening (width measured from leftto right).6. Material and Manufacture6.1 The wire used in the manufacture of welded wire meshfence fabric shall conform to the specifications in

22、 6.1.1 asappropriate for the type ordered, except the tensile strengthshall conform to 7.1. The wire may be produced from anygrade of steel listed in Specification A82 or SpecificationA 853.6.1.1 Type 1 welded wire fabric shall be manufactured fromzinc-coated steel wire conforming to Specification A

23、 641/A 641M Class 3 coating (minimum). Type 2 welded wirefabric shall be manufactured from uncoated steel wire con-forming to Specification A82or Specification A 853, and thefabric subsequently zinc-coated by the hot-dip process, con-forming to Specification A 123/A 123M, Coating Grade 35(minimum).

31、ensure accurate spacing and alignment of allmembers of the finished fabric. Longitudinal and transversemembers of the welded wire fabric shall be connected at everyintersection in accordance with the requirements of 13.4 by theprocess of electric resistance welding, which employs theprinciple of fus

32、ion combined with pressure.6.3 The polymer coating used in the manufacture ofpolymer-coated welded wire mesh fence fabric shall conformto the properties in 8.2 and 8.3.6.3.1 The polymer-coated welded wire mesh fence fabricshall have the polymer coating fused and adhered onto themetallic-coated welde

33、d wire fabric after fabrication of mesh.7. Mechanical PropertiesTensile Strength7.1 Tensile StrengthThe tensile strength of the wire usedfor the welded wire mesh fence fabric shall be soft, medium orhard in accordance with the requirements of SpecificationsA 641/A 641M (Type 1 and 4), A 856/A 856M (

34、Type 3) andhard drawn in accordance with Specification A82or Specifi-cation A 853 (Type 2). The cross-sectional area of the testspecimen shall be based on the diameter of the metallic coatedwire. (See Table 3.)8. Physical Properties8.1 Metallic CoatingThe minimum metallic coatingweight shall conform

35、 to the requirements of SpecificationA 641/A 641M, Class 3 coating for Type 1 and Type 2 andSpecification A 856/A 856M Class 80 coating for Type 3.8.2 Polymer CoatedThe minimum coating weight of themetallic coated wire shall conform to the requirements ofSpecification A 641/A 641M Class 1 for Type 4

36、.8.3 Polymer Coating on WireThe initial properties of thepolymer coating on the wire and welded wire fabric shall havea demonstrated ability to conform to the following require-ments:8.3.1 Salt Spray Exposure and Ultraviolet Light Exposure:8.3.1.1 The polymer coating shall show no effect after1000 h

37、 of salt spray exposure in accordance with PracticeB117.8.3.1.2 The polymer coating shall show no effect of expo-sure to ultraviolet light with test exposure of 1000 h usingapparatus Type E and 63C, when tested in accordance withPractice D 1499.8.3.1.3 Evaluation of Coating after Salt Spray and Ultr

38、a-violet Exposure TestAfter 1000 h salt spray test and exposureto ultraviolet light as specified in 8.3.1.1 and 8.3.1.2, thepolymer coating shall not show cracks, blisters or splits. Thechange in color, measured in terms of DE, shall not be morethan ten.8.3.2 AdhesionThe polymer coating shall adhere

39、 to thewire such that the coating breaks rather than separates from thewire when tested in accordance with 13.3.8.3.3 Mandrel BendThe polymer-coated wire when sub-jected to a single 360 bend at 0F 18C around a mandrelten times the diameter of the wire, shall not exhibit breaks orcracks in the polyme

40、r coating.8.3.4 ColorUnless otherwise agreed upon between buyerand supplier, the color of the polymer-coated wire shallconform to Specification F 934.9. Dimensions and Tolerances9.1 The diameter of metallic-coated wire shall conform toTable 3.9.2 The minimum thickness of the polymer coating, not tob

41、e considered the finished gage, shall be as shown in Table 4.9.3 Welded wire mesh fence fabric shall have mesh open-ings as designated in Tables 1 and 2. Mesh opening shall beconsidered to be center-to-center distance between two con-secutive longitudinal or transverse wires as designated inFig. 1.

42、The permissible tolerance is 618 in. 3.2 mm onmeshes 2 in. and above and116 in. 1.6 mm on meshes under2 inches.9.4 In panel or roll length, the permissible tolerance shallnot exceed 614 in. 6.3 mm when measured overa6ftdirection. In all cases, the mesh count must be correct.9.5 The width and height

43、of the mesh openings for weldedwire mesh fence fabric as installed on fence posts, shall be asshown in Fig. 2.9.6 The flatness of panels shall conform to the following:when a panel is laid on a flat surface, such that any lift is in themiddle of the panel, the maximum lift shall not exceed 2 in.50.8

Workmanship10.1 Wire of proper grade and quality, when fabricated inthe manner herein required, shall result in a strong, serviceablemesh-type product having substantially square or rectangularopenings. It shall be fabricated and finished in a workmanlikemanner, as determined by visual inspe

45、ction, and shall conformto this specification.11. Test Methods13.1 Metallic Coating WeightPerform coating weighttests in accordance with Test Methods A 90/A 90M.13.2 Polymer Coating Thickness:13.2.1 Determine the thickness of the polymer coating on anindividual piece of wire removed from the fabric.13.2.2 Determi

49、ne the diameter of the metallic coated wireafter stripping the polymer coating by chemical means. Deter-mine the thickness of the polymer coating by scraping thecoating from one side of the wire and measuring the reduceddiameter with a micrometer.
