2、n mm 1 Scope and purpose This standard applies to the folding of reproductions of technical drawings and its purpose is to ensure that the folded material can be stored in files and folders con- forming to DIN 821 Part 1. It can also be applied for other technical documents, as appropriate. 2 Concep
3、ts Retaining strip The retaining strip is a perforated strip additionally attached at the left to the + basic fold instead of the +filing margin. Filing format The filing format within the meaning of this standard is A4 conforming to DIN 476. Cover side The cover side is that side of the folded mate
4、rial which faces the user (reader). Folding mode The folding mode determines the execution of the fold- ing, e.g. folding for filing with or without retention. Folded material The folded material within the meaning of this standard comprises technical documents, eg. drawings in the A3 format and lar
5、ger in the folded condition. Folding edge The folding edge is the edge imparted to the + folded material in the process of folding. Folding length The folding length is the length of an interval on the + folded material as measured in the folding direction. Basic fold The basic fold is the bottom fo
6、ld which is provided with a perforation; it includes the filing margin. Filing margin The filing margin is an area at the bottom left-hand side of the -+ basic fold which, for example, takes the per- foration for retaining the folded drawing in a file. Longitudinal folding (Leporello folding) Longit
7、udinal folding is a (zig-zag) folding method in which the -+ folded material is folded alternately for- wards and backwards towards the -+ cover side. The + folding edges run parallel to the shorter sides of the unfolded format. Cross folding Cross folding is a folding method in which the + folding
8、edges run parallel to the longer sides of the unfolded format. Residual fold Residual folds result in certain cases of longitudinal and cross folding as a remainder of the sum of the individual folding lengths. Oblique fold The oblique fold is a fold made for the purpose of exposing the perforation
9、and does not extend over the entire length of side of the + folded material. N o te : The following are alternatives to the oblique fold for machine foidings: e.g. filing margin trimmed off at top; filing fold opened out at bottom; filing margin with multiple.notching; filing strip stuck on. Stackin
10、g fold Stacking folds are the folds, excluding the + basic fold, which are necessary for obtaining the + filing format. 13、 the dimensions and permissible deviations in accordance with figures 1 to 3 apply. No permissible deviations are specified for the dimensions of the individual folds; only conformity with the filing format is mandatory. Figure 1. Type A Figure 2. Type C 4.2 Position of title bbck The title block must be positioned on the cover side of the folded material in the reading direction and in the bottom right-hand corner (figures 1 to 3). 4.3 Perforation For type A the perforatio
15、n must conform to DIN821 Part 21). For type B the additionally applied retaining strip must allow retention in accordance with DIN 821 Part 2. No te: Commercial type hole reinforcements are recommendable. 4.4 Machine folding and hand folding The specifications in subclauses 4.1 to 4.3 apply to both

18、se the 1956 edition of DIN 824. As thesametime consideration was also given to developments in the field of mechanical folding. ISORC 10BC 1 has started work on the subject of the folding of technical drawings. This work will be dealt with in close conjunction with IS0 5457. The discussion on draft
19、DIN IS0 5457 Technical drawings; formats and design of preprinted drawing sheets” has still not been concluded owing to the rejection of the IS0 Standard by Germany and some other countries. This standard therefore refers to DIN 823. The standard on preprinted drawing sheets now in preparation will
20、probably not have any repercussions on this standard.
