15、oduction A given respiratory protective device can oniy be approved when the individual components satisfy the requirements of the test specification whch may be a complete standard or Part of a standard and praccal performance tests have been canied out on complete apparatus where specined in the a

16、ppropriate standard If for any reason a complete apparatus is not tested then simulation of the apparatus is permitted provided the respiratory characteristics and mass distribution are similar to those of the complete apparatus. 1 scope This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for self

17、-contained closed-circuit breathing apparatus, compressed oxygen (w and compressed oxygen-nitrogen (02 - NZ) types, used as respiratory protective devices, except escape apparatus and diving WPW. Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requir

18、ements. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions hm other publications. 22、ible material and shall be protected agauist compression by external forces. The breathuig bag shall be reliably and tightly joined to the connection. The connector at the inhalation side shall be shaped in such a way that its opening mot be closed by the bag itself. 6.9.2 Volume The effective volum

23、e of the breathing bag shall be at least 5 1. It shail be measured between 7,5 mbar and -5 mbar relative to atmospheric pressure. Nm. For apparatus using a constant flow supply it may be necessary to increase the volume of the breathing bag. Testing shail be done in accordance with 7.2 and 7.13. 6.1

24、0 Practical performance In addition to the machine tests described, the apparatus shall also undergo practical performance tests under realistic conditions. These practical performance tests serve the purpose to check the apparatus for imperfections that cannot be determined by the tests described e

25、lsewhere in this European Standard At the time when the apparatus is rejected by the wearer or when the inhalation breathing resistance reaches 35 mbar, the level of oxygen in the inhalation air shall be at least 21 % (by volume) and the level of CO2 shall not exceed 3 % (by volume). Where, in the o

26、pinion of the testing authority, approval is not granted because practical performance tests show the apparatus has imperfections related to the wearers acceptance, the testing authority shall describe the tests which revealed these imperfections. This wili enable other test houses to duplicate the

27、tests and assess the resuits thereof. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.3. 6.11 Resistance to temperature, flammability and resistance to radiant heat 6.11.1 Resistance to temperature “kouble free operation shall be ensured after storage at temperatures mnging from -30 C to 60 “C. Testing s

28、hall be done in accordance with 7.4.1.1,7.4.1.2,7.4.2.1 and 7.4.2.2. 6.1 1.2 Peflornaance 6.11.2.1 Pmnce at -6 C to 30 C The apparatus shall operate trouble free over the temperature range -6 “C to 30 C. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.4.1.2 and 7.4.2.2. 6.11.2.2 Low tmperature lxytimnce

29、(0ptma.l) Where the apparatus is designed for low temperatures below -6 “C it shall operate trouble free. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.4.1.3 and 7.4.2.3. 6.11.3 Conditioning ofthe apparatus 6.11.3.1 Fee connector Subsequent to conditioning in accordance with 7.14 and returning to tempe

30、rature of (20 f 3) “C all connections between apparatus and facepiece shall be checked Where the centre thread is used it shall be checked with thread pitch gauges. After testing, the facepiece connector shail remain dimensionally accurate to gauge. For all facepiece connectors a pull test in accord

31、ance with 7.12.4 of EN 136 : 1997 shall be appiied No separation shail occur. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.2. 6.11.3.2 firnth of the appamtus Subsequent to conditioning in accordance with 7.14 and returning to ambient temperature the apparatus shal meet the requirements of 6.28 at a mi

32、nute volume of 50 Vmin The materials used shall not show any deterioration, e.g. deformations, craks or corrosion. Testing shail be done in accordance with 7.2 and 7.8. 6.11.4 Flammability The breathing hoses leading to the facepiece, the facepiece connector and the lung governed demand valve (if co

33、nnected to the facepiece) shall be seif+xtinguishing, i.e. the material shall not be of a highly flammable nature and the parts shall not ignite or continue to burn for more than 5 s after removal from the test flame. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.16. 6.11.6 Resistance to radiant heat T

34、he breathing hoses, the facepiece connector and the lung governed demand valve (if connected to the facepiece) shai be tested for resistance to radiant heat using the test methods described in 8.6 of EN 136 : 1997. The apparatus is considered to be resisant to radiant heat in accordance with this Eu

35、ropean Standard if it continues to function correctly and the components remain leaktight after a test period of 20 min, altho the components may be deformed 6.12 Strength of high and medium pressure P- Metallic high pressure tubes, vaives and connections shall be capable of withstanding a test pres

36、sure of 50 % above the maximum filling pressure of the cylinder(s). Non-metallic high pressure parts shall be capable of withskinding a test pressure of twice the maximum fillingpressure. Ail medium pressure tubes downstream of the pressure reducer shaii be capable of withstanding twice their maximu

37、m attainable working pressure for at least 15 min. Testing shail be done in accordance with 7.2. 6.13 Interchangeability of high, medium and low pressure connections High, medium and low pressure connedons shall not be interchangeable. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.2, 6.14 Cylinders onl

38、y cylinders of equai maximum filling pressure shall be connected to an apparatus with more than one cylinder. Compressed gas cylinders shall comply with national requiremens. The cylinder shall be approved with respect to the appropriate liing premm. Testing shali be done in accordance with 7.2. 6.1

39、6 Cylinder valve There shaii be oniy one vaive to control the totai gas *red. The vaive shall be so designed that the vaive spindle cannot be completely unscrewed from the assembly during normal operation of the vaive. The de shaii be designed so that it cannot be closed inadvertently by contact wit

40、h a surface by one of the following methods a) the valve shall be designed so that aminimum of two turns of the handwheel are required to fully open the Valve; or b) the valve shaU be lockable in the open position The connection between the cylinder and the cylinder valve shall be achieved by a conn

41、ection defined in EN 144-1 : 1991. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.2. 6.16 Cylinder valve outlet It shall not be possible to connect cylinders with a higher maximum filling pressure (e.g. 300 bar) to an apparatus which is designed only for a lower maximum filling pressure (e.g. 200 bar).

42、Testing shaii be done in accordance with 7.2. 6.17 Pressure reducer Any adjustable medium pressure stage shall be reiiably secured against accidental alteration and adequately sealed, so that any unauthorized adjustment can be detected The pressure reducer shall maintain a medium pressure of 210% of

43、 the manufacturers design pressure at ali cylinder pressures above 20 bar. Where component parts of the apparatus downstream of the pressure reducer are not capable of withstandmg the full cylinder pressure, a pressure reducer safety valve shall be provided The pressure reducer safety Valve shail be

44、 designed to pass an air flow of at least 100l/min at a medium pressure not exceeding 30 bar. With the pressure reducer safety valve activated, the inhalaton and exhalation breathing resistance shaii not exceed 25 mbar. Testing sha be done in accordance with 7.16. Where a pressure reducer safety Val

45、ve is not provided, the breathing resistance requirements given above shaii be met at a simulated air flow of 100Vmin. Testing shall be done in accordance with 7.16. 6.18 Pressure indicator The apparatus shaii be equipped with a reliable pressure indicator, which will indicate the pressure in the cy

49、General If no speciai measuring devices or measuring methods are specified, commonly used methods and devices shaU be applied 7.2 Visual inspection visual inspecton shall be carried out where appropriate by the test house prior to laboratory or practical performance tests. The visual inspection shall include marking and the information supplied by the manufacturer. 7.3 Practical performance Practical performance tests shall be performed with at least 2 apparatus and 4 test subjects. 7.3.1 Test subjects The closedcircuit breathing apparatus shail b
