SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are waterproof, pressure sensitive, cloth tapes. 2 APPLICATION Specification ESB-M3G58-A was released originally for tape used as a waterproof
3、 protective covering for large openings on inner door panels. Specification ESB-M3G59-A was released originally for tape used as a waterproof exterior protective covering along tacking strips on models equipped with light colored convertible tops. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUC
4、TION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.3 COLOR ESB-M3G58-A Black ESB-M3G59-A White 3.4 BACKING Waterproof fabric 3.5 BREAKING STRENGTH (ASTM D 1000, 508 mm/min rate of pull) 3.5.1 Dry 6.1 N/
5、mm width 3.5.2 Wet 6.1 N/mm width Test Method: Immerse specimens in distilled water at 23 +/- 2 C for 6 h. Remove, blot off excess water and pull immediately. 3.6 UNWIND PULL, max 613 N/m width Test Method: Place core of tape around a fixture which will allow it to revolve. Attach the free end of th
6、e tape to a 44.5 N maximum limit spring scale. Pull the tape from its roll at the rate of 305 mm/min. Measure and record the unwind pull as a direct scale reading. 8、tha. 3.10 MOISTURE VAPOR TRANSMISSION RATE, max 5.6 g (FLTM BU 001-01) 3.11 WATER PENETRATION RATE, max 30 g (FLTM BU 001-02) 3.12 ACCELERATED AGING (Storage Stability) The adhesive shall show no signs of separating from its backing, nor loss in adhesion or tack. It shall not become a pasty or strin
9、gy mass. The backing shall not become brittle. Test Method: Apply 3 strips of tape side by side with the adhesive in contact with a glass plate 100 mm square. Lay three additional strips directly on top of each strip with the adhesive side of each strip in contact with the backing side of the under
10、piece. Press each layer of tape down smoothly by hand or by a roller. Place the plate with the test specimens in a relative humidity of 95 - 100 percent at temperature of 38 +/- 1 C for six days. After the exposure period, remove the specimens from the high humidity, allow to cool for 4 h at 23 +/-
11、2 C, and then examine layer by layer to determine the extent of adhesive deterioration. 3.13 FINISHED TAPE The tape shall be wound evenly on rolls so that the surface of the roll shall be free from depressions. The tape shall have no liner over the adhesive and shall unroll evenly and uniformly with
12、out unraveling. The adhesive material shall not separate from the backing so as to leave bare spots or show offsetting of the adhesive from one layer to another when the tape is unwound. When unwound from the roll, the tape shall remain reasonably flat with no tendency to curl transversely. The tape
13、 shall adhere snugly to work without wrinkling, curling, or buckling. The edges of the tape shall be straight, true and unbroken so as to provide sharp distinct boundaries to finished areas. The tape shall be wound on standard 75 mm cores. 3.14 WATERFASTNESS OF DYE Shall be waterfast Test Method: Vi
14、gorously shake a 100 mm strip of tape in 200 ml of distilled water at 23 +/- 2 C. Allow to stand in the water at 23 +/- 2 C for 6 h. Any discoloration of the water will be cause for rejection. Functional trial results should be available to design and materials engineering prior to material approval and release.
