SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a silicone rubber suitable for high temperature service conditions, possessing increased tear strength and im
3、proved reversion resistance. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as a rotating shaft oil seal in automotive automatic transmissions. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Co
4、mpanys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 SLAB STOCK PROPERTIES (ASTM D 3182) All seals and test samples, except slabs for tear resistance, shall be prelubed as follows: Material shall be immersed in ASTM No. 3 oil with no more than 2% rust inhibitor to be added. 12、 following method: Immerse samples in ASTM No. 1 oil at 163 +/- 3 C for 70 h. Remove samples from ASTM No. 1 oil, place in “bent loop“ test fixture and condition in cold chamber at -40 +/- 1 C for 5 h prior to flexing. 3.1.7 Reversion Test No reversion (as determined by smear test) after aging 240 h
13、 at 163 +/- 3 C in each factory fill qualified automatic transmission fluid ESW-M2C33-F and ESP-M2C138-CJ (ASTM D 471, para. 6.1, aluminum block). Smear test shall consist of sliding an aged compound across a section of white cardboard under approximately 18 N (4 lb) thumb force. Color smear shall b
14、e no greater than that produced by sliding of unaged compound across an identical section of white cardboard under the same, 18 N (4 lb), thumb force. Reversion resistance to be determined on actual seals in addition to slab stock. 3.2 SEAL PROPERTIES (Material control) 3.2.1 Immersion in ASTM No. 1
15、 Oil (ASTM D 471, 70 h at 163 +/- 3 C, Method “A“, aluminum block) Volume Change Within +/- 2.5% points of the percent change obtained on actual seals during original qualification under para. 3.1.3. The percent change to which these limits are applied for control purposes shall be established from
16、the qualification test results by agreement between purchaser and supplier. The weight of seal stock for volume change determination shall be 0.4 g minimum.
