2、hether their creative intent is correctly reflected in the production of programmes, it is essential that displays in television production and control rooms where picture balancing and matching is performed, should display programme material in a reliable and consistent way; b) that Recommendations
3、 ITU-R BT.470, ITU-R BT.601, ITU-R BT.709 and ITU-R BT.1361 provide complete worldwide specifications for picture colorimetry and levels; c) that Recommendation ITU-R BT.814 provides alignment procedures for the correct setting of brightness, contrast and colour balance of television displays; d) th
4、at audience preferences in the appearance of television pictures displayed on their home receivers may change from country to country and from person to person, and may also depend on environmental conditions, making it even more important to ensure consistency of picture balance and matching from s
5、equence to sequence and from programme to programme at the sending end, recommends 1 that displays in production and control rooms where image balancing and matching is performed should be aligned in compliance with Recommendations ITU-R BT.470, ITU-R BT.601, ITU-R BT.709 and ITU-R BT.1361 as approp
6、riate, or they should be adjusted to provide a good metameric match1to that alignment, in order to ensure that the displayed programme material reliably and consistently reflects the creative intent of the production staff; 2 that the alignment tools and methods specified in Recommendation ITU-R BT.
7、814 should be used to ensure the correct alignment of those displays; _ 1A metameric match of two colours of different spectral composition is obtained when the visual comparison of these two colours does not permit them to be distinguished by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) stand

ITU-R BT.1562 3 that the alignment procedures should be repeated on those displays as often as display stability requires; 4 that in the production of television programmes for domestic use any departure from standard alignment of displays in production and control rooms should
9、be avoided, unless a policy choice of the broadcaster dictates otherwise; 5 that in the production of television programmes for which international exchange is expected, any departure from standard alignment of displays in production and control rooms should always be avoided unless it is dictated by creative requirements of production staff.
