2、all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for the remanufactured M3U Cartridge Actuated Initiator Metal Parts Assembly (see 6.1). 2. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable lrnvs and regulations unless a specific exemption has been ob

12、tained. 3, HEQUIREMENXS 3.1 Materiais, All materials used in the manufacture of the initiators shall conform strictly to the specifications referred to on the respective drawings unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therefrom has been cihtained from the cognizant Navy design acti

13、vity prior to manufacture. When alternate materials or methods of maiiufacture are specified on the drawings, the bidders selections shall be clearly stated in the proposal. The renianufacturai initiator metal pacts assembly shall contain a new initiator spring, safety pin seal and O-rings. 3,2 Prot

14、ective finish, Protective finish shall be in accordance with the applicable specifications and drawing and shall apply to all surfaces of the component, regardless of configuration. Remanufactured exterior components shall have the existing protective finish stripped and the specified protective fin

15、ish reapplied (see 6.3.2). 3,3 Hydrostatic pressure, The initiator chamber and cap shall withstand a hydrostatic pressure of 5500 t U500 pounds per square inch (psi) for 15 seconds, minimum (min), without deformation or mechanical failure (see 65.1). 3A Firing pin release, The firing pin of the asse

16、mbled initiator, less safety pin, cartridge retainer and chamber shall release from the cocked position when the application of an axial load of 20 to 35 pounds has withdrawn the initiator pin 94 inch, maximum (max). 2 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without lice

The initiator pin of the assembled initiator, less cartrige retainer and chamber, shall not withdraw beyond the safety pin when subjected to an axial load of 200 to 220 pounds. Application of the load shall no

18、t cause permanent deformation of the safety pin. The safety pin groove shall be 0.118 +O.OlO, -0.000 inch. Each safety pin groove shall undergo 100% inspection. 0 3.6 Metal parts assembly, Parts shall be combined to produce an assembly which conforms to the requirements of the metal parts assembly d

19、rawing. Ali threaded joints shall be assembled handtight. a. When the remanutacturing and loading of assembly is performed in an integrated plant, the metal parts assembly requirement may be waived and the residual magnetism requirement perhrmed on the loaded assembly only. 3.7 Residual magnetism. T

20、he metal parts assembly shall not deflect the indicator of the compass more than five degrees in either direction using the procedures in 4.5.5. 38 Workmanship. The requiremenis for workmanship are as specified on the applicable drawings, referenced . specifications, and the following: 38.1 Metal de

21、fects. All components shall be free from cracks, splits, cold shuts, inclusions, porosity, or any similar defect. 38.2 Burr. No part shall have a burr which might interfere with the assembly or function of the item or which might be injurious to personnel handling the item. 383 Foreign matter. No pa

22、rt or assembly shall contain chips, dirt, grease, rust, corrosion or other foreign matter. a - 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. UnIess otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order (see 621, the contractor is responsible for the performance of ali inspection

23、 requirements (exarninatims and fests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his m or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Go

24、vernment reserves he right to performany ofthe inspections set forth inthespecification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and senrices coIltrm to prescribed mpkmenEs. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance.
