14、rom the top of the liquid, in the case of a single homogeneous liquid, or from the boundary plane between liquids in the case of two immiscible liquids. 3.3.2 Zndztctive float (tupe ZC/I).-This type makes utje of a float riding on a vertical rod or column, mounted in a tank. The column contains a ta
15、pered winding, the number of turns per unit length varying throughout the length, The float rides on the liquid to be measured and cuts the magnetic Aux line produced by the electrically energized coils in the vertical rod or column. 19、 of which is a conducting medium usually water and the other a pctrolcum base liquid, and utilizes the principle that the capncitnnce of 8 condenser fe proportional to the aren of the plates. The circuitry of this type is such that the trink unit forms one plate of the condenser and the liquid forms
20、 the other plate. The varying height of the conduct
21、ing liquid provides the variation of plate size in terms of variation in liquid level. 3.3.5 Radioactive fiout (type IC/R).-This type makes use of a float containing a gamma ray source such as commercially available radium salt, the float riding on or in a vertical rod or column mounted in the tank
22、and with a gamma ray detector located at the top of the vertical rod or column to indicate the amount of the liquid to be measured. The float riding on the liquid will emit gamma rays which wil be picked up by the detector. This type of gage utilizes the principle that the intensity of gamma rays va
23、ries in inverse proportion to the square of the distance be- tween the float and the detector. 3.3.6 Lever niid flout tgpe (IC/FE).-This type makes uswof a float attached to a lever which in turn is attached to the edge of the tank. The lever actuates a mechanism, such ris a potentiometer, mounted i
24、n a liquicltight case within the tark and by proper circuitry to indicate at a remote station, the amount of liquid to be measured present in the tank. 3.3.7 Lever atid flout (type IC/FT),-This type shall consist of a fioat attached to a lever which in turn is attached to the top of the tank. 25、ver actuates a mechanism, such as a potentiometer, mounted in a liquid- tight case within the tank and by proper circuitry to indicate at a remote station, the amount of liquid to be measured present in the tank. 3.4 Component units.-The components of a tank level indicating system shall consist ees

Rejected lots may be offered again for Government inspection tests provided all equipments in the lot have been retested by the contractor for the te
