9、f cathodes or portions of cathodes. NOTE Deleted by amendment No. 2. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this specification the following definitions shall apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant Amdt 1

10、identification mark a mark by which the origin of the material comprising the lot can be traced lot not less than 1 kg and not more than 20 000 kg of cathodes or portions of cathodes, bearing the same identification mark, from one manufacturer, submitted at any one time for inspection and testing 3

11、Requirements 3.1 Chemical composition The chemical composition of cathode copper shall comply with the chemical requirements laid down in table 1. 12、Total metallic impurities (excluding silver) 0,03 SANS 735:2009 Edition 2.2 4 3.2 Physical requirements The cathodes shall be tough, dense, and reasonably free from loose or brittle lumps, nodules and other protrusions. The surface shall be free from slime and copper sulphate. 4 Marking 4.1 The foll

13、owing information shall appear in legible and indelible marking on each cathode, or bundle of cathodes, or portions of cathodes, or container in which portions of cathodes are packed: a) manufacturers name or trade name or trade mark; b) an identification mark by means of which the relevant producti

14、on data and control test results can be traced. 5 Sampling and compliance with the specification1)5.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the relevant requirements of the specification. The sample so taken shall be deemed to represent

15、 the lot. From the lot take at random the number of cathodes or portions of cathodes shown in column 2 of table 2 relative to the appropriate lot size shown in column 1. 16、00 15 Over 20 000 25 * Whichever is less. 5.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the specification if, after inspection and testing, the sample taken in accordance with 5.1 is found to comply with all the requirements of the specification. 1)

17、 This section applies to the sampling for inspection and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also u

18、sed as the procedure for adjudicating in cases of dispute. SANS 735:2009 Edition 2.2 5 6 Inspection and methods of test 6.1 Inspection Inspect the sample drawn in accordance with 5.1 for compliance with the requirements of 3.2 and 4.1. 6.2 Preparation of composite sample for testing a) By brushing t

19、he surfaces of all the cathodes or portions of cathodes (as relevant) taken in accordance with 5.1 with a wire brush, remove all extraneous matter. b) Using a suitable drill, drill once through each cathode or portion of cathode as follows: 1) Full cathodes: Drill at a point that lies on one of the

20、diagonals. Select the points to be drilled so that if all were on one cathode they would be equally spaced along the diagonal. 2) Portions of cathodes: Drill at any point randomly selected. NOTE Do not use any lubricant and do not apply sufficient pressure to cause oxidation of the drillings. c) Cut

21、 up and thoroughly mix all the drillings to form a composite sample. By using a magnet, remove any extraneous iron introduced by the drilling. Remove superficial oxides by washing the composite sample in 20 % (v/v) acetic acid; rinse a few times with distilled or de-ionized water and then with alcoh

22、ol. Finally rinse in acetone and place in a drying-oven at 80-90 C until dry. Store in a tightly stoppered bottle. 6.3 Methods of test 6.3.1 General Any acceptable methods of chemical analysis may be used to assess compliance with the requirements of 3.1.
