1、SECTION 16772 RADIO ENTERTAINMENT EXTENSION SYSTEM SPEC WRITER NOTE: Delete between 11- / if not applicable to project. Also delete any other item or paragraph not applicable in the section and renumber the paragraphs. PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION A. This section specifies the minimum requiremen

2、ts for the extension of the existing Radio Entertainment Distribution (RED) system. B. Interface the RED extension with the existing system and make the distributing to the audio signals to all locations as shown on the drawings. C. Electrically integrate the extension so that the combination of equ

3、ipment installed does not produce any undesirable effects, such as signal distortions, noise pulses, or transients and does not cause any signal degradation to the existing RED system. D. Also, interface the extended RED system with the nurse call system. The interface requires not only a physical c

4、onnection, but a matching of signals so that all programs may be received by each individual patient via the nurse call pillow microphone/speaker units. audio interface must be accomplished utilizing solid state switching. The authorized representative of the manufacturer of the radio entertainment extension system shall be responsible for sat

6、isfactory total operation of the system and its certification. B. The manufacturer shall have had experience with three or more installations of systems of comparable size and complexity asregards to coordinating, engineering, testing and supervising. Each of these installations shall have been in s

Prior to review of submittals, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reserves the right to: 1. Have t

8、he manufacturer submit a list of locations of similar installations. 2. Inspect any of these installations and question the user concerning the installations without the presence of the supplier. 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Submit in accordance with Section 01340, SAMPLES AND SHOP DRAWINGS and Section 16050,

9、BASIC METHODS AND REQUIREMENTS (ELECTRICAL). B. Shop Drawings: 1. Submit shop drawings and catalog cuts for approval in accordance with Section 01340, SAMPLES AND SHOP DRAWINGS. 2. Concurrent review: For Architect-Engineer projects, an additional three copies of the submittal shall simultaneously be

10、 submitted in accordance with Section 01340, SAMPLES AND SHOP DRAWINGS. 3. Sufficient information, (detailed schematics of subsystems, assemblies and subassemblies to component level) clearly presented, shall be included to determine compliance with the drawings and specifications. 4. Wiring and con

11、nection diagrams shall be certified by the radio entertainment extension manufacturer. 5. Provide verification in writing that the type wire/cable being furnished and installed is recommended by the radio entertainment manufacturer and will provide a total system free of undesirable effects specifie

12、d. 6. Include information indicating who will certify the system and who will perform the guarantee period services. 7. Provide the power calculations used to determine the amplifier(s) being proposed. 8. Furnish a typewritten document (including illustrations) which, utilizing the test equipment sp

13、ecified, provides a detailed system testing plan for the system performance standards. The test plan will be evaluated and approved before pretesting is conducted. 9. Provide a detailed lesson plan for evaluation and approval by the Office of Telecommunications (333). C. Manuals: 1. Submit, simultan

Wiring diagrams shall indicate internal wiring for each item of equipment and the interconnections between the items of equipment

16、. c. Provide a clear and concise description of the operation which gives, in detail the information required to properly operate the equipment and system. 2. Two weeks prior to final inspection, deliver four copies of a final updated operating and maintenance manuals to the Resident Engineer. a. Up

17、date the manual to include any information necessitated by shop drawing approval. b. Include complete “As Installed“ wiring and schematic diagrams which shows all items of equipment and their interconnecting wiring. c. Show all terminal identifications. d. Include information for testing, repair, tr

18、oubleshooting, assembly, disassembly and recommended maintenance intervals. e. Provide a replacement parts list with current prices. Include list of recommended spare parts, tools, and instruments for testing and maintenance purposes. f. Furnish manuals in loose-leaf binder or manufacturers standard

19、 binder. Test Equipment List: The Contractor is responsible for furnishing all test equipment required to test the system in accordance with the parameters specified. Unless otherwise stated, the test equipment shall not be considered part of the system. The Contractor shall furnish test equipment o

20、f an accuracy better than the parameters to be tested. The test equipment furnished by the Contractor shall be traceable to the National Institute of Standards Technology. Calibration intervals shall be in accordance with USAF T.O. 33K-i- 100, Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) Interva

21、l Reference Guide. The test equipment list shall be furnished as a part of the submittal, to include the make and model number of the following types of equipment as a minimum: 1. Sound Pressure Level (SPL) meter. 2. Sound Pressure Level Calibrator. 3. Random Noise Generator. 4. True RMS Voltmeter.

Certifications: 1. Together with the shop drawing(s) submittal, submit a written certification from

23、the major equipment manufacturer indicating that the proposed supervisor of the installation and the proposed performer of the contract maintenance is an authorized representative of the major equipment manufacturer. Include name and address in the certification. 2. Together with the shop drawing(s)

24、 submittal, submit a written certification from the major equipment manufacturer that the proposed wiring installation and connection diagrams meet this specification, the UL requirements and the requirements set forth by the major equipment manufacturer for proper performance of the system. VA will

25、 not approve any submittal without this certification. 3. Two weeks prior to the final inspection, deliver to the Resident Engineer four copies of a certificate by the authorized representative of the manufacturer of the major radio entertainment extension equipment that the system has been properly

26、 installed, adjusted and pre-tested. 1.5 GUARANTEE PERIOD SERVICES A. Furnish and guarantee maintenance service for the system using factory trained authorized representatives of the manufacturer of the equipment for a period of one year after acceptance of the installation by the VA. B. Maintenance

27、 service shall include the following: 1. Monthly preventive maintenance of equipment, minimum. Coordinate time of the maintenance with the VA MEDICAL CENTER, Chief Engineering Service. 2. Responding to calls within four hours of notification of system troubles. 3. Repair and replace parts and equipm

28、ent as necessary to keep the system in optimum operating condition and proper working order. 4. Furnishing tools, test instruments and parts required. C. Work not included: Maintenance service shall not include the performance of any work due to improper use, accidents, or negligence for which the C

29、ontractor is not directly responsible. 1.6 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS A. The publications listed below form a part of this specification to the extent referenced. 32、date and specify only that which applies to the project. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Delivery: Deliver materials to the job site in manufacturers original unopened containers, clearly labeled with the manufacturers name and equipment model identification number. B

33、. Storage and Handling: Store and protect equipment in a manner which will preclude damage. 2.2 NEW EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS A. All equipment to be supplied under this specification shall be new and the current model of a standard product of a manufacturer of record. A manufacturer of record shall be

34、defined as a company whose main occupation is the manufacture for sale of the items of equipment supplied. B. For each item of equipment offered, manufacturer does maintain: 1. A factory production line. 2. A stock of replacement parts. 3. Engineering drawings, specifications, operating manuals and

35、maintenance manuals. C. 36、20 T77 08-95 2.3 EQUIPMENT COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENTS While individual items of equipment may meet the equipment specifications, and in fact, meet the system specifications when electrically associated with other equipment; the total system shall be designed so that the combination of equipment actu

37、ally employed does not produce any undesirable effects such as signal distortion, noise pulses, transients, crosstalk interferences. 2.4 EQUIPMENT CHARACTERISTICS A. 40、ds and Testing: All supplies, materials or equipment shall be listed, labeled or certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory to conform with UL Standards where such standards have been established for the supplies, materials or equipment. The cabinet(s) shall be of adequate size to handle all amplifiers, power systems and any other system a

43、ncillary equipment capable of being centrally located. The cabinet(s) housing shall be constructed of 1.5 mm (0.0598-1 inch) thick steel, minimum, with front and rear locking doors. Provide and install in each cabinet(s) a low noise fan for filtered forced air ventilation, equipped with an input fil

44、ter. The fan motor shall operate from 105-120 volts, 60 Hz electrical power, be separately fused and be thermostatically controlled to an ambient temperature of below 35 degrees C. Provide and install in the upper portion of the central equipment cabinet a monitor panel. The audio monitoring panel s

45、hall have: a. A monitor speaker with a permanent magnet, 76 mm (3-inch) minimum diameter and a monitor volume control. b. An easy to read W meter with illuminated scale and W meter calibrating control. c. A channel selector switch with six positions: Off, (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) which shall connect the m

46、onitor speaker and W meter to the selected channel. Provide and install in the central equipment cabinet a master AC power control panel. The master AC power control panel shall have : a. A master “ON - OFF“ switch for all of the input power to the central equipment cabinet. b. A pilot light associa
